    "description": "<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p>In this position, the Designer will work with a team of engineers for the pursuit, design and production of various civil engineering projects, including the following responsibilities: </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Communicates and coordinates with clients and consultants (e.g., architects and civil/ mechanical/ electrical/ plumbing engineers) to ensure clear understanding of project goals and expectations</li>\n <li>Interacts with clients and team members regarding project information</li>\n <li>Reviews project specifications – including old drawings with site information and city block maps</li>\n <li>Determines and adheres to appropriate federal/state regulations</li>\n <li>Designs project layout and details (e.g., utility distribution, flood protection, parking, and traffic flow, etc.) using appropriate design software</li>\n <li>Spot-checks calculations and back-checks plan mark-ups and completed drafting</li>\n <li>Guides/assists other designers regarding issues such as codes, deflection criteria, and software</li>\n <li>Coordinates with city staff in obtaining permits and/or special requests</li>\n <li>Reviews project proposal and organizes project’s work requirements and staffing needs</li>\n <li>Delegates project work to others (e.g., project team members, CAD operators, contractors)</li>\n <li>Reviews project status report against budget and schedule</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>High school diploma or equivalent</li>\n <li>5-7 minimum prior years of related experience</li>\n <li>Basic drafting/CAD training a plus</li>\n <li>Strong visual design skills</li>\n <li>Excellent written and verbal communication</li>\n <li>Strong organizational skills</li>\n <li>Ability to build partnerships and work collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives.</li>\n <li>Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced environment</li>\n <li>Strong client-service attitude with ability to multi-task and accomplish multiple priorities </li>\n</ul>\n<p><em>Walter P Moore is an equal employment opportunity employer, and provides equal employment opportunities (including offering competitive compensation and benefit packages) to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to any characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws.</em></p>\n<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p>Walter P Moore is an international company of engineers, architects, innovators, and creative people who solve some of the world’s most complex structural and infrastructure challenges.
