Position number:                                K0121914 Location of Employment:                   Kansas Judicial Center, Topeka County, Kansas 66612 Salary and Benefits:                            Docket and Outreach Coordinator, Grade                                                                    47,  $ 79,188.774 annually Kansas Judicial Branch Benefits State Employment Center - Benefits (ks.gov)  This position provides high-level strategic planning and administrative support to the Chief Judge of the Kansas Court of Appeals. The role involves managing confidential matters, coordinating complex schedules and communications (both within the Court of Appeals and other courts and the public), and ensuring the smooth operation of the Court of Appeals. Working with a high degree of independence, the Docket and Outreach Coordinator exercises sound judgment, discretion, and attention to detail in all responsibilities. While routine tasks are performed autonomously, direction is received on sensitive or unusual matters. This trusted position serves at the discretion of the Chief Judge and other members of the Chief Judge’s Special Unit and plays a key role in supporting the court.   Job duties: (Position may not include all the duties listed, nor do the examples cover all the duties which may be performed.)    Planning and setting of monthly Court of Appeals dockets, including monitoring current pending cases and judges’ conflict lists, and assisting the chief judge in preparing written case assignments for the judges.  Coordinating, planning, and supporting Court of Appeals travel dockets and public outreach opportunities.  Recruiting and providing initial and ongoing training to judicial executive assistants who work in judges’ chambers.  Coordinating assignments and communication with and assistance for senior judges, retired judges, and district judges who sit with the Court of Appeals by appointment.  Working with the Office of Judicial Administration Communications Department and local, state, and national media sources to provide information regarding the court, including weekly opinion summaries. Education and experience: Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, or another field that provides comprehensive writing and communication experience. At least two years of work experience in a related field. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe applications, and a working understanding of current Artificial Intelligence models. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in public administration, strategic communications, or a similar field. At least three years of work experience within a court system. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:   Knowledge of the organization, mission, and vision of the Kansas Judicial Branch generally and the Kansas Court of Appeals specifically. Knowledge of applicable common law, local, state, and federal statutes, and the Rules of the Kansas Supreme Court as they apply to judicial activities. Skill in organizing, planning, developing, and managing programs and prioritizing work. Ability to maintain professional working relationships with court personnel and the public in formal and informal settings as a representative of the Court of Appeals. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, whether orally or in writing, with judges, other court employees, and the public. Ability to build rapport and professional working relationships with others. Ability to set clear, professional boundaries and maintain confidentiality. Ability to plan, organize, and supervise the work of others. Ability to make decisions that require considerable judgment, initiative, discretion, and ingenuity in areas where there may be little precedent. Ability to prioritize work, work independently without daily direct supervision, and manage a variety of projects elements simultaneously. Ability to maintain accurate records and to analyze data. Skill in the use of office technology. Ability to occasionally travel overnight.
