Job Description
Information about the Role, Line of Business and Team:
The Actuarial department of the Crum & Forster Accident & Health division is looking for a multi-talented individual to join this fast paced, dynamic team. This position offers a unique opportunity to work in an entrepreneurial environment but with the benefits of a smaller organization and the security, stability, and opportunity of a large conglomerate. You will interact directly with all points from senior executives to customers, with visibility throughout the organization and a direct impact on the bottom line.
What you will do:
Experience Analysis
Design and create profitability analyses and reviews
Analyze stop loss program experience and develop appropriate corrective actions
Create analyses for underwriters and senior management in support of new and existing programs
Assist in the due diligence of potential new programs
Assist underwriting in the preparation of experience rating and provide actuarial guidance on risk selection
Work with existing programs to gather appropriate data for analysis
Perform ad-hoc analyses as directed
Maintain and update existing experience analysis tools and models
Pricing and Reserving
Assist in developing rating plans for all products
Develop rating support and memorandums for submission to state Department of Insurance
Manage and respond to filing objections
Familiarity with state regulations and requirements for rate filings
Analyze and review industry stop loss manuals
Develop underwriting guidelines – credibility tables, completion factors, and experience rating
Produce rating tools for underwriters
Assist in the preparation of monthly reserve reviews
Prepare recommendations for reserve changes
Communication
Strong ability to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external clients
Informs manager of status and problems within assigned area of responsibility
Refer matters beyond limits of authority and expertise to manage for direction
Performs duties in a timely and efficient manner
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines
Work closely with business unit leaders to support all actuarial aspects

Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and 10+ years of relevant experience required.
At least 7+ years of Actuarial experience preferred
At least 5+ years of Employer Stop Loss experience at a carrier or reinsurer preferred
Minimum of an Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA)
Strong Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Access, and some programming skills (SQL, SAS, VBA)
Must abide by departmental policies and procedures, including authority levels, to comply with C&F’s risk management controls
Ability to travel (10%-20%)

You will interact directly with all points from senior executives to customers, with visibility throughout the organization and a direct impact on the bottom line.\r\n \r\nWhat you will do:\r\n \r\nExperience Analysis\r\n- Design and create profitability analyses and reviews\r\n- Analyze stop loss program experience and develop appropriate corrective actions\r\n- Create analyses for underwriters and senior management in support of new and existing programs\r\n- Assist in the due diligence of potential new programs\r\n- Assist underwriting in the preparation of experience rating and provide actuarial guidance on risk selection\r\n- Work with existing programs to gather appropriate data for analysis\r\n- Perform ad-hoc analyses as directed\r\n- Maintain and update existing experience analysis tools and models\r\nPricing and Reserving\r\n- Assist in developing rating plans for all products\r\n- Develop rating support and memorandums for submission to state Department of Insurance\r\n- Manage and respond to filing objections\r\n- Familiarity with state regulations and requirements for rate filings\r\n- Analyze and review industry stop loss manuals\r\n- Develop underwriting guidelines – credibility tables, completion factors, and experience rating\r\n- Produce rating tools for underwriters\r\n- Assist in the preparation of monthly reserve reviews\r\n- Prepare recommendations for reserve changes\r\nCommunication\r\n- Strong ability to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external clients\r\n- Informs manager of status and problems within assigned area of responsibility\r\n- Refer matters beyond limits of authority and expertise to manage for direction\r\n- Performs duties in a timely and efficient manner\r\n- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines\r\n- Work closely with business unit leaders to support all actuarial aspects\r\nWhat YOU will bring to C&F:\r\n- Strong interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills\r\n- Flexible and open to an ever-changing, fast-paced environment, based on the value of the business to the division and direction of manager\r\n- Ability to work effectively and efficiently both independently and in a group in a dynamic environment.\r\n- Strong research, decision-making, and analytical skills\r\n- Meticulous with a high degree of accuracy and ability to multitask\r\nRequirements:\r\n- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and 10+ years of relevant experience required.\r\n- At least 7+ years of Actuarial experience preferred\r\n- At least 5+ years of Employer Stop Loss experience at a carrier or reinsurer preferred\r\n- Minimum of an Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA)\r\n- Strong Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Access, and some programming skills (SQL, SAS, VBA)\r\n- Must abide by departmental policies and procedures, including authority levels, to comply with C&F’s risk management controls\r\n- Ability to travel (10%-20%)",
