      "value": "Clinical Grief Counselor Job Description \n\nEducation:\nMaster’s degree in a counseling-related field\nLicensure:\n• If possesses a Master’s degree in social work, must obtain a license in the State of Maryland as a Licensed Graduate Social Worker (LGSW) within 6 months of hire. If possesses a master’s in another counseling related field, must obtain a license in the State of Maryland as a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC) within 6 months of hire. Clinical level licensure is encouraged and may result in an increase in remuneration if obtained\n• Valid driver’s license and automobile insurance\n• Certification in thanatology or a grief/bereavement specialization through an approved professional organization including but not limited to the Association for Death Education and Counseling or The Portland Institute within the first three years of employment\nExperience:\n• Experience in hospice and bereavement support\n• Experience in community outreach and mobilization\n• Clinical experience in assessing, intervening and providing time limited counseling to clients with caregiver stress, anticipatory grief and grief and loss issues\n• Experience in public speaking in a variety of settings with groups of varying size preferred\n• Experience in facilitating support groups\n• Experience and/or willingness to serve as a field instructor for master’s level interns from a counseling related field\n• Experience with diversity, equity & inclusion\nSkills:\n• In-depth knowledge of the theories of grief and loss and the psychosocial issues related to death and dying\n• Mental health and bereavement knowledge and experience to ensure understanding of the basic issues of human development and behavior\n• Analytical skills necessary to assess client needs, to establish a plan of care\n• Interpersonal skills to effectively engage clients, community members, volunteers and colleagues\n• Ability to build, promote and maintain positive relationships with partners\n• Content expert in end of life, grief and loss through development\n• Community outreach and mobilization\n• Public speaking and education\n• Group, workshop and special event facilitation\n• Curriculum and content development for groups, workshops and special event\n• Teamwork and the collaborative process\n• Time management and discipline required to complete job duties\n• Ability to read and write the English language in order to complete required professional documentation and correspondence.\n• Knowledge of planning principles and techniques\n• Navigating and facilitating diversity, equity & inclusion in groups and organizations\nPrincipal Duties and Responsibilities:\n• Develop an outreach plan for grief education and support based upon department and organizational goals. Plan should support Gilchrist’s strategic initiatives\n• Establish performance metrics to promote grief and bereavement services throughout the community\n• Develop and maintain relationships with schools, healthcare organizations, religious institutions, businesses, community based organizations and others to ensure that they are aware of Gilchrist’s grief support services\n• Identify other community outreach opportunities\n• Maintain data base of community outreach clients\n• Conducts education, training sessions and debriefings in the community regarding grief and bereavement\n• Provides clinical supervision for bereavement volunteers, interns and potentially staff as needed\n• Facilitates training and in-service education for bereavement volunteers, community and the greater Gilchrist/GBMC Health System\n• Assist with the planning and organizing of bereavement related events and offerings\n• Plans, guides and advises the organization on diversity, equity and inclusion matters. Collaborates with leadership and the Diversity & Inclusion Steering Committee to create, implement and monitor programs designed to ensure fair and equitable treatment of staff and the people we serve\n• If assigned, manages caseload of grieving clients providing time limited counseling. Conducts assessments of grieving clients and establishes a plan of care, coordinates with interdisciplinary team as necessary based upon department need\n• Able to work flexible schedule, including weekend, evening and nights as needed\n• Maintains communication and relationship with hospice program and overseeing bodies\nAll roles must demonstrate Values:\nRespect\nI will treat everyone with courtesy.
