Your Mission in Action The Lead Medical Coordinator oversees the medical services for unaccompanied children. The Lead Medical Coordinator will provide exceptional care to children. This role involves delivering comprehensive nursing care to children with various health concerns. The Lead Medical Coordinator will collaborate with program departments and regulatory standards to ensure the best outcome for the children under the care of the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR). They are responsible for overseeing health services as well as coordinating the provision of timely, appropriate health services for children in care. They supervise other Medical Coordinators and provide appropriate staff training on medical, dental, and public health topics relevant to pediatric, adolescent, and migrant health. They are responsible for developing and maintaining policies and procedures for confidential health record management, triage of health concerns, medical emergency response, environmental health and safety, and post-release health care planning/care coordination. Responsibilities Serve as the point of contact with the Division of Health for Unaccompanied Children (DHUC) Medical Team Provide nursing care to children include monitoring vital signs, administering medications and educating on various health concerns Assess, document, and manage pediatric patient’s health conditions and treatment plans, maintain accurate and detailed children’s records in compliance with regulatory standards Support and enforce infection-control policies, develop care plans for the medical isolation population following regulatory standards Coordinate medical appointments and follow through on medications and treatment as prescribed Coordinate and oversee the prescribed nutritional needs and diet and fluid intake for UCs as prescribed Track all UC Portal medical data and UC medical files, ensures proper immunization schedules are used in accordance with ORR, DHHS, and TVFC policies and procedures and ensures the timely reporting of medical incidents (e.g., SIRs, HHSC SIR reports) Track and ensures specialized services such as dental treatment, psychological, psychiatric, family planning, and emergency care are provided to UC. Identifies other specialized health services as needed Serve as the liaison with medical service providers in the community Coach and support staff to ensure they have the necessary tools and resources needed to optimize performance, ensure established program goals, and achieve operational excellence. Communicate with direct reports in periodic one-on-one meetings Organize and deliver regularly scheduled staff meetings to communicate present, on-going, and future updates of pertinent information, projects, and initiatives Work closely with management team to interview, hire, and onboard new employees who are strong cultural fits for Upbring Work in collaboration with leadership and the People and Culture Team to arrange training; when needed, coordinate and/or provide in-service training for staff development Regularly review employee performance, including goals and progress, to provide developmental feedback: use applicable agency development tools to facilitate growth and development in staff Draft and issue the 90-day and annual evaluations, along with supporting documentation, as per established procedures; work in collaboration with staff to set goals during evaluation periods Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) with a Bachelor’s; OR Higher health-related qualification (e.g. Physician Assistant, Nurse Practitioner) One (1) year of employment in public health or a healthcare setting with demonstrated experience in care coordination, health administration, or direct clinical care Previous supervisory experience Bilingual English and Spanish, (speak, read and write) Valid TX driver’s license with auto insurance Must be 21 years of age or older per licensing requirements Ability to build rapport with the children and maintain professionalism Strong documentation, organizational skills, interpersonal, and critical thinking skills Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel and UC information systems Preferred Qualifications Two (2) years of nursing experience Travel This position may be required travel as needed based on program requirements.
