KCIA's focus is creating a world class school with an international focus. Many of KCIA's students are members of families who have immigrated to Kansas City from more than 25 different countries. Approximately 60% of our students are English Language Learners, who speak over 15 different languages.  100% of our students receive free or reduced lunch. We embrace the diversity of our student body and we are honored to make a difference in the lives of our vibrant international community of students every day. </span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">KCIA has an extensive, rigorous, and robust K-8 English Language Program. We have highly trained and experienced English language development teachers/specialists equipped to support our students’ language needs. KCIA is a very special place for our students and staff as we continue to become one of the state's exemplary charter schools. </span><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">KCIA is a special place that offers a community of love and care to our students, and an adult culture of substantial, personalized instructional support.</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span style=\"font-size: 18px\">About the Position:</span></span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">The Special Education Teacher develops and provides specialized instruction to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities; Evaluates and assesses student progress against instructional objectives; follows State mandated due process procedures and functions as IEP Manager to assigned students. </span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span style=\"font-size: 18px\">Key Responsibilities:</span></span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">Provides research-based specialized instruction to address the instructional goals and objectives contained within each student’s IEP.  </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">Assesses student progress and determines the need for additional reinforcement or adjustments to instructional techniques.  </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">Employs various teaching techniques, methods and principles of learning to enable students to meet their IEP goals.  </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">Develops and implements annual Individualized Educational Programs (IEP) for students to include: the creation of  present levels of educational performance, identification of special education needs,  development and tracking of instructional goals and objectives, and determining the appropriate amount of special education and related services required to meet those goals.  </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">Schedules team meetings and works cooperatively with child study team members and others in developing instructional goals and strategies.  </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">Coordinates the delivery of special education services in each student's IEP.  </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">Creates a positive learning experience with emphasis in individualized instruction using appropriate sources including various types of technology. </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">Serves as primary contact for the parent.  </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">Assists in the special education evaluation and reevaluation process.  </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">Provides direction and supervision to paraeducators as necessary.  </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">Complies with School Board policies and all state/federal rules and regulations.  </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">Completes all district and state reporting requirements.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span style=\"font-size: 18px\">Qualifications:</span></span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">Must hold proper certification according to the state of Missouri.</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span style=\"font-size: 18px\">Compensation &amp; Benefits:</span></span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">All KCIA employees are provided with a robust and competitive salary, compensation, and benefits package. </span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt; font-weight: bold\"><span style=\"color: rgb(48, 46, 47); font-weight: bold; text-decoration: none\">Our Commitment to Creating a Workplace Where ALL Belong:  </span></span></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt; font-weight: 400; text-decoration: none\">At KCIA, creating a workplace environment where ALL feel welcomed, respected, and have equal opportunities to thrive is integral to our mission.
