This position includes interaction with the system and the fish so situational awareness and alertness are paramount.</p><p><strong>&nbsp;</strong></p><p><strong>Job Description:</strong></p><p><strong>&nbsp;</strong><u>Core areas of responsibility are:</u></p><ul><li>Complete daily system checklists.&nbsp;</li><li>Collect water samples.&nbsp;</li><li>Monitor system operation and fish behavior.&nbsp;</li><li>Maintain strict biosecurity protocols.&nbsp;</li><li>Operate, adjust, and refill feed systems.&nbsp;</li><li>Collect, classify, and remove mortality.</li><li>Collect and maintain accurate records.</li><li>Interface with computers and apps.&nbsp;</li><li>Assist in fish growth sampling and transfers.&nbsp;</li><li>Maintain a clean workspace.&nbsp;</li><li>Safely handle live fish.</li><li>Ensure that Fundamental tasks are being completed and assist with them as well.</li><li>Ensure proper function and operate drum filters, biofilters, heat exchangers, ozone/skimmer systems, NaOH systems, and chillers.&nbsp;</li><li>Conduct standardized cleaning procedures for drum filters, biofilters, heat exchangers, ozone/skimmer systems, NaOH systems, and chillers.&nbsp;</li><li>Troubleshoot, repair, or replace mechanical equipment (pumps, pipe flanges, etc.).&nbsp;</li><li>Maintain cleanliness of water quality sensors (oxygen, pH, etc.).</li><li>Coordinate and move water within the system.</li><li>Able to understand how the water quality is affecting the system.&nbsp;</li><li>Predict how the system will respond to changes/new variables.</li><li>Willing to take on more responsibility with training.&nbsp;</li></ul><p>&nbsp;</p><p><u>This job requires a smartphone.</u></p><p><strong>&nbsp;</strong></p><p><strong>Skills, competences, and knowledge to perform the work&nbsp;</strong></p><ul><li>Background in aquaculture, recirculating aquaculture systems (some basic levels of Drum filters, Biofilters, Hydro Dynamics etc), fisheries, or fish handling preferred.&nbsp;</li><li>1-2 years of hands-on experience desired.&nbsp;</li><li>Knowledge and use of hand tools, power tools, and related safety considerations preferred.</li><li>Willingness to collaborate with team members&nbsp;</li><li>Ability to work in complex multi-tasking environments</li><li>Ability to work well independently and as part of a dynamic team.</li><li>Ability to think critically and solve problems.</li><li>Ability to speak honestly and voice concerns.&nbsp;</li></ul><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Expected hours of work</strong>:&nbsp;</p><p>This job is salary and schedules may include daytime, nighttime, weekend, and holiday shifts. Lunch break is 1 hour and is coordinated daily with your manager.
