As the Ground Software Engineer within the Ground Systems Development team, you will gain experience in software development and maintenance for the mission software and supporting applications, while utilizing a working knowledge of mission planning, data routing, and management. Additionally, the Ground Software Engineer will work autonomously to deliver high-quality work and drive projects/deliverables to completion within the larger development team to support cross-functional efforts across all areas of ground system software development.  </p>\n<h2>What You’ll Do:</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Work collaboratively with your team to develop and enhance software related to the SDA project </li>\n <li>Assist in developing optimized code for both scalability and performance </li>\n <li>Work within the Agile/Scrum framework for software development  </li>\n <li>Play a role in creating and/or maintaining build environments for software products </li>\n <li>Work within team objectives to assist in planning and executing software releases per stakeholder/program schedules and budgets  </li>\n <li>Update issue/feature data in Atlassian Project/Software tracking tools </li>\n <li>Follow existing Iridium processes for Change Control, Prioritization, Risk Management, Commercial off the Shelf (COTS) Management, Build, and Test software deployments and use knowledge to assist in development of process/procedure documentation materials </li>\n <li>Edit, structure, and present data, concepts, and arguments clearly and succinctly, through briefings and documentation </li>\n <li>Respond to questions within scope from stakeholders </li>\n</ul>\n<h2></h2>\n<h2>What You’ll Need to Succeed:</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, or other engineering discipline</li>\n <li>2+ years’ software programming and/or software support experience </li>\n <li>Proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., C, C++, Python, Java, or similar)</li>\n <li>Coding experience on Agile based teams</li>\n <li>Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly present information and ideas to others</li>\n <li>Have confidence and be able to easily build meaningful relationships with your manager and members of your team</li>\n <li>Must be able to prioritize your tasks, be self-aware enough to identify and correct mistakes, and not be afraid to ask for help when needed</li>\n <li>Be active in seeking out ways to improve yourself and gain new knowledge, and be enthusiastic in sharing knowledge with others  </li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Things That Would be Great if You Brought to the Table: </h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Experience with the following technologies: \n  <ul>\n   <li>XML / JSON / SQL </li>\n   <li>No SQL based DBs (e.g., Mongo) </li>\n   <li>Atlassian management/software development tools: Jira / Git / Bitbucket / Crucible / Confluence and/or Gitlab </li>\n   <li>Micro services architectures </li>\n   <li>AWS cloud environments </li>\n  </ul></li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>We’ll also need you to:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li><p>Work in the office at least 3 or more days a week to foster collaboration with the team and stakeholders</p></li>\n <li><p>Be a U.S. Citizen </p></li>\n <li><p>Be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance </p></li>\n</ul>\n<h2></h2>\n<h2>Work Environment:</h2>\n<p>This position primarily works in an office setting and is largely sedentary with the majority of the position working with a computer. The role typically requires the use of basic office equipment such as a phone, video, computer, keyboard, mouse, and printer.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>We believe in-person connection drives innovation, strengthens mentorship, and builds culture, while flexibility enables employees to do their best work.
