American Heritage Schools of Palm Beach County is accepting applications for Bus Drivers. This position is based at our Palm Beach Campus - Delray Beach, FL. American Heritage School is a nationally recognized college preparatory school for students in PK3-12th grades with two campuses in South Florida. The rigorous and well-rounded curriculum includes over 300-course offerings with 133 honors classes, 29 Advanced Placement (AP) classes, a Pre-Professional Program with Pre-Med, Pre-Law, Pre-Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Business, and Computer Science, a Science Research Institute, and 75 fine arts courses. American Heritage is ranked #1 private school in the nation and #1 high school in Florida for the highest number of nationally recognized scholars, #1 private school in the U.S. in math, #1 in Florida in science fair, and #1 mock trial and moot court teams in Florida. Split shift with extra work available Full-time/year-round (including summers) , Monday-Friday POSITION OVERVIEW The School Bus Driver position performs driving duties for the school in accordance with the laws and regulations of the state policies, and procedures of the school. PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Operate a school bus over designated routes in accordance with specified time schedules and in accordance with the regulations and laws related to pupil transportation Transport students to and from school for curricular and extracurricular activities Pick up and discharge students at established school bus stops Report incidents which affect the safety of students and the operation of the school bus. Maintain the school bus in a safe operating condition through prescribed daily vehicle inspections Report mechanical defects and malfunctions to the appropriate personnel Maintain the school bus in clean condition, including interior windows, seats, dash area, and floors. Ensure and maintain student order and discipline on school buses Maintain control and orderly behavior Report disruptive children according to established procedures and guidelines to the appropriate school personnel Communicate behavior issues as required by school policy Maintain current knowledge of emergency evacuation procedures and techniques. Communicates with the dispatcher via two-way radio during the route Provides updates to the dispatcher and reports emergencies, traffic patterns, or accidents. Accurately complete daily paperwork Attendance Pre/post-trip inspections Attend training and development sessions, as required. SECONDARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Performs other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE High school diploma or equivalent required Minimum of six months previous school bus driving experience or vocational training preferred Valid CDL Class A or B with passenger and school bus endorsements Must pass the following DOT drug screening Clean driving record Physical exam Background check All other company requirements SKILLS & ABILITIES Ability to operate a school bus safely Extensive knowledge of motor vehicle laws Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills Excellent time management skills WORK ENVIRONMENT School Bus Work in various/extreme weather conditions PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Requires walking, standing, bending, and extended periods of time sitting while driving.
