SNP offers postsecondary, secondary, and trades education and training, and maintains formal partnerships with nine publicly funded Ontario universities and colleges while collaborating with six Ontario-based Indigenous-owned and controlled post-secondary institutes.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>For more information, visit: <a href=\"http://www.snpolytechnic.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">www.snpolytechnic.com</span></a></p>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">JOB PURPOSE</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>Six Nations Polytechnic (SNP) is seeking to expand the pool of sessional instructors available to teach within the <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">University Year 1 Consortium </span>program (UP). Sessional instructors are responsible for preparing and delivering lectures, developing course materials and assessments, and evaluating student performance in accordance with program expectations.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>SNP is committed to providing a high-quality Indigenous teaching and learning experience within the Six Nations of the Grand River community. The program is a one-year, community-based university preparation program offered at SNP in partnership with six leading Ontario universities.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES </span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>Sessional instructors are responsible for:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Delivering <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">12 three-hour lectures</span></li>\n<li>Preparing course materials and instructional resources</li>\n<li>Designing and administering assignments, tests, and final assessments</li>\n<li>Grading and submitting final course marks</li>\n<li>Posting materials and assessments to the course webpage</li>\n<li>Responding to student inquiries and providing academic support</li>\n<li>Holding regular student office hours</li>\n<li>Communicating with the Senior Associate Dean or Unit Coordinator</li>\n<li>Participating in required meetings or training sessions and positively contributing to a community of practice amongst teaching staff and learners</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Duration and Workload</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">16-week contract</span>, including <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">12 weeks of instruction</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">120 total hours per course</span> (approximately <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">7.5 hours per week</span>)</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>Weekly expectations include:</p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">3 hours</span> in-class instruction</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">1 hour</span> student office hours</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">3.5 hours</span> preparation, grading, meetings/training, and course administration</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>Candidates must be available <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">weekdays (9:00am – 12:00pm</span> or<span style=\"font-weight: bold\"> 1:00pm – 4:00pm)</span>.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Salary:</span> $7,020 per course</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">EDUCATIONAL KNOWLEDGE</span></p>\n<p>Applicants should demonstrate:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>A Master’s degree, or an equivalent combination of education, Indigenous knowledge, language proficiency, and relevant experience</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Course Offerings – University Year 1 Consortium Program (UP)</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>CAYUGA 1Z03 – Introduction to Cayuga Language &amp; Culture (McMaster University)</li>\n<li>CAYUGA 2Z03 – Intermediate Cayuga (McMaster University)</li>\n<li>ENGL 109 – Introduction to Academic Writing (University of Waterloo)</li>\n<li>HS 1001 – Personal Determinants of Health (Western University)</li>\n<li>HS 1002 – Social Determinants of Health (Western University)</li>\n<li>INDIGST 1A03 – Introduction to Indigenous Studies (McMaster University)</li>\n<li>INDIGST 1AA3 – Introduction to Contemporary Indigenous Studies (McMaster University)</li>\n<li>MOHAWK 1Z03 – Introduction to Mohawk Language &amp; Culture (McMaster University)</li>\n<li>MOHAWK 2Z03 – Intermediate Mohawk (McMaster University)</li>\n<li>PS 101 – Introduction to Psychology I (Wilfrid Laurier University)</li>\n<li>PS 102 – Introduction to Psychology II (Wilfrid Laurier University)</li>\n<li>SOCIOL 1C03 – Canadian Society: Social Problems, Social Policy, and the Law (McMaster University)</li>\n<li>SOCIOL 1Z03 – Introduction to Sociology (McMaster University)</li>\n<li>SK 111 – Introduction to Social Welfare (Wilfrid Laurier University)</li>\n<li>SK 121 – Introduction to Social Work: Values, Ethics, and Practice (Wilfrid Laurier University)</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>All courses at Six Nations Polytechnic are <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">3-unit courses consisting of 12 weeks of 3-hour lectures</span>.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>For full course descriptions visit: <a href=\"https://share.google/HPFraG7tW4BYl2R7h\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">https://share.google/HPFraG7tW4BYl2R7h</a></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span>We are seeking professionals and instructors interested in being considered for future sessional instructor opportunities.
