Description

The Lemuel Shattuck Hospital is seeking a Transportation Services Coordinator to oversee all aspects of the hospital’s transportation operations. This role oversees motor vehicle and plowing services, directs the hospital’s parking program, establishes and maintains driver safety initiatives, oversees fleet maintenance and reporting, and coordinates the parking sticker program for both on ‑ site and off ‑ site locations. Please note : 7-3pm Monday - Friday with weekends off Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive): Develop and oversee a comprehensive driver safety program, including daily vehicle inspections, staff education, and ongoing compliance monitoring; ensure full adherence to Office of Vehicle Maintenance (OVM) standards. Coordinate, monitor, and evaluate all assigned transportation and parking program activities to ensure effective operations and compliance with established policies, procedures, and standards. Review and analyze program data to assess progress, measure effectiveness, recommend procedural or guideline changes, and develop improved methods for achieving program objectives. Provide technical assistance and guidance to hospital staff and external partners to exchange information, resolve operational issues, and support compliance with transportation and parking requirements. Respond to inquiries regarding shuttle services, inclement ‑ weather operations, continuing education, and hospital compliance initiatives. Maintain liaison with private, local, state, and federal agencies to share information and resolve problems related to transportation services. Attend meetings and conferences; maintain required records; and prepare reports to support program oversight and compliance. Oversee vehicle maintenance contracts and vendor performance; plowing contracts or direct in ‑ house snow ‑ removal operations. Plan, implement, and oversee the parking sticker program for on ‑ site and off ‑ site lots, working closely with campus police on enforcement. Organize and coordinate parking lot cleaning, maintenance, and line painting. Review, update, and implement departmental policies, procedures, and quality improvement initiatives. Develop and administer a Continuing Education Program for transportation staff. Supervise assigned staff, including work assignments, performance evaluations, scheduling, leave authorization, and monitoring attendance and overtime budgets. Required Qualifications: Apply human resources principles and practices, including behavioral techniques, planning, forecasting, and organizational development. Utilize work ‑ simplification methods to improve efficiency. Prepare charts, graphs, tables, and general reports using appropriate methods and formats. Interpret and explain laws, regulations, policies, and procedures governing Transportation Department operations. Analyze data to determine relevance, draw conclusions, and make informed recommendations. Gather information through document review, record examination, and interviews. Assemble information accurately and in accordance with established procedures and formatting standards. Maintain precise and organized records. Communicate clearly and concisely in both written and oral forms, including giving and following instructions. Supervise staff effectively by planning and assigning work, evaluating performance, identifying training needs, motivating employees, and administering discipline when appropriate. Build rapport and maintain harmonious, tactful working relationships with colleagues, partners, and the public. Adapt to changing situations, respond to emergencies, and meet evolving program requirements. Exercise sound judgment and handle confidential information with discretion. Preferred Qualifications: Understand and apply the laws, regulations, policies, procedures, specifications, standards, and guidelines governing unit operations. Use agency forms appropriately and accurately for assigned tasks. Demonstrate effective supervisory principles, practices, and techniques to guide, support, and oversee staff. About the Lemuel Shattuck Hospital: Lemuel Shattuck Hospital is a fully Joint Commission accredited teaching facility that provides acute, subacute, and ambulatory care to patients referred by public agencies and private sector providers. Shattuck Hospital’s services help economically and socially disadvantaged patients to get high quality, cost-effective care from a staff that respects their dignity. Located in the heart of Boston’s Jamaica Plain neighborhood, the Shattuck Hospital includes 248 inpatient beds including 95 Psychiatric beds and 29 Correctional Health beds. In addition, the Shattuck has a full outpatient clinic with many specialties that offers treatment to patients of the Department of Mental Health as well as Department of Correction and House of Correction inmates and community patients. The Shattuck hospital is on the forefront of substance use disorder treatment including a Suboxone clinic serving 200 patients. In addition to direct medical services LSH hosts and supports an array of services located on the campus, serving patients struggling with addictions and homelessness.
