Description

Position Summary The Program Administrator develops and implements student-centered programs, services, and initiatives for the Center for Multicultural Education and Programs (CMEP) within the Division of University Life. This position engages and supports students and student groups from diverse backgrounds, viewpoints, and perspectives while collaborating with university and external partners to foster an inclusive environment for all students, centering communities of color, first-generation students, and other groups. The Program Administrator leads communications and digital storytelling to elevate CMEP’s impact while supporting leadership development and educational programming. Additionally, the role ensures operational excellence through data-driven assessment, student staff supervision, and cross-departmental collaboration. By providing the essential infrastructure and fostering a productive office environment, the Program Administrator advances CMEP’s mission and supports student belonging across the University. Qualifications Required Education: Bachelor's Degree in a related area Preferred Education: Master's Degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Education, Social Sciences, Public Policy, Counseling, or a related field is desirable; however, equivalent professional experience and demonstrated skills in program administration, event management, and community engagement will be considered a strong substitute. Required Experience: 2+ years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have a foundational and applied knowledge of community, inclusion, and belonging efforts in higher education. Must include experience with event planning, project management, marketing and communications, conducting research, and working with communities from diverse backgrounds, viewpoints, and perspectives. Requires experience in collaborating across stakeholders and constituencies. Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Demonstrated commitment to and foundational knowledge about community, inclusion, and belonging efforts in higher education. Proven event planning and management skills. Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and multitasking abilities. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills. Ability to effectively engage with and develop programs/events for individuals from diverse backgrounds and all levels of the organization. Ability to generate compelling written content that engages diverse audiences. Strong teamwork skills and openness to feedback. Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software/applications, and various social media platforms. Effective presentation skills. Strong attention to detail. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: A foundational and applied knowledge of community, inclusion, and belonging efforts in higher education. Proven experience in developing and executing programs and initiatives that support all student populations, especially focused on communities of color, first-generation students, and other groups. Knowledge and skills in marketing related to elevating academic or organizational programs. Excellent communication skills, including public speaking and facilitation. Strong analytical skills to assess program effectiveness and implement data-driven improvements. Strong research skills for developing educational content and researching industry trends and best practices. Ability to build collaborative relationships with students, faculty, administrators, and external partners. Mentorship of college students and supervisory skills. Demonstrated effectiveness in managing multiple priorities in a highly collaborative environment. Experience supervising student staff and fostering teamwork. Proficiency in various communication platforms and tools. Additional Information In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $70,000.00 to USD $75,003.50. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
