    "description": "<p>This position treats and educates patients in the control and prevention of oral disease through proper oral hygiene and regular professional care within appropriate scope of practice across the lifespan. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Minimum Qualifications:</span></p>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><em>Education</em></span></p>\n<p>Graduation from an accredited dental hygiene school; Bachelor’s Degree with a major in Dental Hygiene preferred. </p>\n<p>State of Alaska Dental Hygiene License required; State of Alaska Restorative Function Endorsement preferred; State of Alaska Anesthesia License preferred.  Current certification in BLS.   </p>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><em>Experience </em></span></p>\n<p>Two - five years experience required; experience serving a diverse patient population across the lifespan required.  Experience with DENTRIX preferred.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Essential Functions</span>:</p>\n<ol>\n<li>Report to work as scheduled, on time and prepared to start working. Remain at work for their entire work schedule.</li>\n<li>Provides direct patient care by providing prophylaxis, fluoride treatment, sealants, patient education, and perio scaling and root planing.</li>\n<li>Assesses patient’s medical history.</li>\n<li>Assesses and obtains clinical evidence of patient’s levels of periodontal health.</li>\n<li>Takes and processes appropriate dental x-rays.</li>\n<li>Delivers appropriate local anesthesia as requested by and under supervision of dentist.</li>\n<li>Applies fluorides and other medications as necessary.</li>\n<li>Accurately records treatment in electronic health records.</li>\n<li>Recognizes and respond to emergencies.</li>\n<li>Attends meetings.</li>\n<li>Complies with dental office and corporation policy and procedures consistently in all aspects of employment.</li>\n<li>Other duties as assigned.</li>\n</ol>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Knowledge, Skills and Abilities</span></p>\n<p>Competent in dealing with diverse populations.</p>\n<p>Knowledge of medications used in conjunction with dental hygiene work.</p>\n<p>Knowledge of health record keeping and dental charting.</p>\n<p>Knowledge of OSHA Blood borne Pathogen Standards and adherence to safety standards.</p>\n<p>Basic computer skills.</p>\n<p>Excellent oral and written communication skills.</p>\n<p>Ability to organize and prioritize tasks.</p>\n<p>Ability to work under pressure.</p>\n<p>Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.</p>\n<p>Ability to work independently and as a team member.</p>\n<p>Ability to educate patients across the lifespan in all aspects of oral hygiene including consequences and treatment options for periodontal disease.</p>\n<p> </p>",
