Description
Job Summary : The Summer School Interventionist-Teacher will support instructional staff in accelerating student learning during summer programming across core academic areas (Math, Science, ELAR/Writing, and Social Studies). This role is responsible for planning, delivering, and evaluating targeted interventions to address academic gaps and support student achievement. The Interventionist will primarily serve at-risk students through Response to Intervention (RTI) strategies, focused small-group instruction, and individualized academic support. The role includes ongoing progress monitoring, data analysis, and collaboration with teachers and campus teams to ensure student growth during the summer session.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide direct instructional support to students through targeted intervention during summer school programming.
Plan and implement engaging, data-driven instructional activities aligned with student needs and academic goals.
Maintain awareness of student goals, RTI plans, and instructional targets throughout the summer session.
Analyze student performance data to identify learning gaps and adjust instruction accordingly.
Deliver one-on-one and small-group tutoring sessions focused on academic acceleration and remediation.
Conduct frequent progress monitoring to track student growth and inform instructional decisions.
Participate in summer school team meetings to review student data and adjust interventions as needed.
Serve as part of the campus-based problem-solving and RTI support team.
Demonstrate knowledge of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) across core content areas.
Implement research-based instructional strategies to improve student outcomes.
Communicate professionally with students, staff, and families regarding student progress and academic needs.
Maintain strong organizational skills and meet all summer program deadlines and expectations.
Support the development of individualized student success plans in collaboration with teachers and staff.
Foster a positive, supportive learning environment that promotes student engagement and achievement.
Maintain accurate RTI documentation and progress monitoring records for compliance and reporting.
Complete all required data entry and documentation in a timely and accurate manner.
Attend and actively participate in summer professional development and planning sessions.
Assist with the preparation and administration of STAAR-related activities, as applicable.
Perform other duties as assigned to support the success of the summer program.
A willingness to perform other duties as assigned.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year, accredited university. Master’s Degree preferred.
Certification: NCLB, Highly qualified, valid Texas Teaching Certificate as required by teaching assignment or acceptance to approved Alternative Certification Program, and results of the TEXes exam. Preferred
Work Experience: 1 to 3 years of teaching experience.
Competencies: Proficiency in both oral and written English, as well as strong interpersonal communication skills, are required. Computer data entry skills.
Equipment Used: Microsoft Office, Eduphoria, Office equipment (e.g., computer, copier). General Knowledge of accounting procedures, district policies, and school law.
Working/Environmental Conditions/Mental Demands/Physical Demands: Ability to work effectively in a prescribed instructional setting and the ability to operate in fast-paced, complex settings while maintaining a high degree of organization and efficiency required.

This position is funded through the 2026-2027 NITA M. LOWEY 21ST CCLC Grant. Continuation of the position beyond that date is contingent upon available funding.
