Description Market Range: 12 Hiring Salary: $5,060.36 - $5,750.00/Monthly JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Under the direction of the Director of Compliance and Title IX Coordinator, the Senior Assurance Officer leads the coordination efforts to comply with Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) policies, ADA, Section 504, accessibility, and accommodation laws, Title VI covered programs and services, including, but not limited to, reasonable accommodation requests addressing individuals with a disability, accessibility, and religious beliefs and practices. This position leads participants in the interactive process with accommodations with all UT Health Science Center employees. This position conducts investigations into complaints of discrimination and harassment covered under federal, state, and local EEO laws and applicable University policies and procedures, and periodically assists with educational adjustment requests in compliance. Responsibilities Works with individuals to determine reasonable accommodations needed for professional success, focusing on trainees, visitors, and accessible parking requests, in addition to serving on an ADA review team to cover all accommodation/accessibility requests. Determines if an accommodation request meets the application of UT policies and procedures, and provides information to UT Health Science Center community members, works with an ADA Review Team, and communicates decisions to individuals and management in an appropriate and timely manner. Conducts investigations of Equal Employment Opportunity, Affirmative Action, Americans with Disabilities Act, Title VI, Title VII, and Title IX related complaints to determine whether federal, state, or local rules, policies or regulations were violated. Corresponds with appropriate personnel to obtain needed information; analyzes information and data obtained from investigations to determine validity. Mediates and utilizes alternative resolution and problem-solving processes to resolve internal organizational complaints and claims; prepares and submits fact-finding reports and makes recommendations on appropriate resolution of claims. Ensures legally mandated accommodations, accessibility, and services are carried out in compliance with relevant federal and state laws, university and higher education policies, regulations, guidelines, and standards. Works closely with Deputy Title IX coordinators and investigators to identify and support policy improvement and recommends programs, strategies and other collaborative activities to prevent discrimination and harassment from occurring at the University. Provides guidance to departments/colleges on how to comply with federal and state laws, as well as institutional policy and procedure. Delivers training and education programs for the university community regularly, to include awareness campaigns around ADA, 504, and Accommodations. Assists the Title VI Coordinator with orientation, training, and marketing campaigns to ensure institutional compliance. Compiles data to prepare UTHSCs an annual report of Title VI accomplishments to the UT System Administration. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Anthropology, Marketing, Sociology, Organizational Management, or a related field. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED) EXPERIENCE: Four (4) years of experience directly related to the duties above; OR Master’s Degree and two (2) years of experience directly related to the duties above. KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITIES: Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, along with excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports in addition to electronic records maintenance skills. Knowledge of compliance, human resources concepts, practices, policies, and procedures. Ability to use tact, discretion, and sound judgment and to work with sensitive and confidential information. Ability to conduct research, gather information and prepare clear, concise reports and correspondence. Ability to make policy/procedural decisions and judgments based on learning, reading, interpreting, and applying, and explaining rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Ability to read, understand, and apply applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, codes, and regulations related to assigned activities, including those laws/regulations governing employment practices, benefit administration, and safety and self-insurance programs. Knowledge of computerized information systems used in financial and/or accounting applications. Ability to be flexible, work independently and have high accountability for a large volume of work. Ability to analyze, solve problems, interpret data, and make independent decisions. Ability to exhibit and support a positive attitude and encourage a positive attitude in co-workers. WORK SCHEDULE: This position may occasionally be required to work evenings.
