This technician serves as a technical expert in the shop, supporting junior technicians and ensuring high standards of safety, efficiency, and equipment reliability.</p><p><strong>Knowledge and Skill Requirements:</strong></p><ul><li>Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills</li><li>Proficiency in hydraulic, electrical, and diesel systems</li><li>Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic tools</li><li>Familiarity with computerized maintenance systems and equipment diagnostics</li><li>Effective communication and time management skills</li></ul><p><strong>Preferred Qualification(s):</strong></p><ul><li>Experience on Heavy Equipment, Caterpillar Equipment is a plus</li><li>CDL Class A or B license</li><li>Welding and fabrication experience</li><li>Experience with telematics and fleet management systems</li></ul><p><strong>Education Requirements:</strong></p><ul><li>High school diploma or GED required</li><li>Technical school certification or associate degree in diesel technology or related field preferred</li></ul><p><strong>Essential Job Functions:</strong></p><ul><li>Perform routine maintenance and repairs on heavy equipment&nbsp;</li><li>Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues and implement effective solutions</li><li>Maintain accurate service records and documentation</li><li>Ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies</li><li>Assist with parts ordering and inventory management</li><li>Support field technicians as needed</li></ul><p><strong>Leadership Responsibilities:</strong></p><ul><li>May mentor junior technicians or apprentices</li><li>Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement</li><li>Communicate effectively with supervisors and other departments regarding equipment status and needs</li></ul><p><strong>Preferred Experience and Skills:</strong></p><ul><li>3+ years of experience in heavy equipment maintenance or repair</li><li>Experience working in a fast-paced shop environment</li><li>Familiarity with OSHA regulations and safety protocols</li><li>Ability to work independently and as part of a team</li></ul><p><strong>Physical and Mental Requirements:</strong></p><ul><li>Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work in physically demanding conditions</li><li>Manual dexterity and stamina for extended periods of standing, bending, and climbing</li><li>Strong attention to detail and problem-solving mindset</li><li>Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines</li></ul><p><strong>Work Environment:</strong></p><ul><li>Shop-based role with exposure to noise, dust, grease, and heavy machinery</li><li>May occasionally work outdoors or in field conditions</li><li>Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required</li><li>May have occasional overtime or weekend shifts resulting in overtime</li></ul><p>This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive, and the employee will also perform other reasonably related business duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management as required.
