    "requisitionDescription": "<div><div><div><div><div><p id=\"isPasted\"><strong><u>Position:</u></strong> Summer Camp Counselor/CIT Position/ Temporary/ Summer Seasonal</p><p><strong><u>***PLEASE REVIEW THE ATTACHED DOCUMENT, FILL OUT, AND UPLOAD IN PLACE OF A RESUME WITH THE APPLICATION***</u></strong></p><p><strong><u>Department:</u></strong> Parks &amp; Recreation</p><p>Summer Camp Counselors assist the recreation department in the daily activities of the summer camp programs at various locations in the City of West Haven.</p><ul type=\"disc\"><li>Responsible for supervising, organizing and participating in daily activities with a group of children at one of our six camp locations and on any off-site trips or scheduled activities (i.e. pool, beach, park)&nbsp;</li><li>Planning, programming, and implementing games and activities for the children assigned to their location,</li><li>Ensure that all children follow rules and policies on site to ensure everyone&rsquo;s safety.</li><li>Undertaking emergency procedures when necessary.</li></ul><p><strong><u>Qualifications</u></strong></p><ul type=\"disc\"><li>Must be creative, enthusiastic and desire to work with and help children develop socially and emotionally.</li><li>Must have comprehensive knowledge of games and activities.</li><li>Must be organized and flexible.</li><li>Must demonstrate a good rapport with other counselors, supervisors, parents and children.</li><li>Must be 16 years or older (15 with JR CIT experience).</li></ul><p><strong><u>Physical Demands:</u></strong></p><p>The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. &nbsp;Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. &nbsp;While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and talk and listen. &nbsp; The employee is required to walk; use hands, handle, or operate playground equipment; and reach with hands and arms. &nbsp; The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. &nbsp;Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and far vision and the ability to adjust focus.</p><p><strong><u>Work Environment</u></strong></p><p>The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. &nbsp;Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. &nbsp;The work is conducted in a typical summer camp/ playground environment.&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;<strong><u>General Guidelines</u></strong></p><p>The duties listed above are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed.
