Reports To: Isabella Russo, Director of Campus Life
Location: Post University Main Campus – Waterbury, CT
Position Summary:
Orientation Leaders (OLs) are role models who serve a vital purpose in the transition of new first-year, transfer, and international students and their families into the Post University Community. OLs are dedicated leaders who possess strong communication skills, a desire to be a part of a team, and take pride in being an Eagle. OLs create a community within small groups and connect with individual students and family members, as well as manage important details that ensure orientation programming runs efficiently and effectively. Orientation Leaders assist with the implementation of all orientation programs and events, including summer orientation & spring orientation. As student leaders of Post University, Orientation Leaders serve as a resource, facilitators, and representatives of the university.
Expectations:
Serve as a role model and resource to new students while representing the university professionally Share knowledge about the university, campus resources, and expectations Lead campus tours, provide directions, and escort students and families as they acclimate to Post University Facilitate engaging group discussions around topics such as community values and involvement Provide encouragement and support in a welcoming environment for new students and their families Collaborate with other Orientation Leaders, professional staff, supervisors, and other campus administrators to develop, prepare, implement, and evaluate Orientation programs Assist staff with administrative preparation in advance of orientation sessions Engage in meaningful self-reflective leadership development throughout the Orientation experience Adapt to changing environment with positivity and flexibility Report to professional staff if problems arise May also be asked or scheduled to work graduation Compensation:
$16.94 an hour Qualifications: Current MC student at Post University Proficiency using Teams and other Microsoft Products Solution Seeker for new and innovative office practices Excellent communication skills, including writing, public speaking, and interpersonal conversation. Organization and planning skills Collaboration and teamwork skills Ability to engage with students and faculty online and in-person Patience, empathy, and compassion with a positive and encouraging attitude. Attentive to details Willingness to learn by embracing technology and emphasizing a growth mindset Brings positive energy & motivation to the department Strong time management and organizational skills Ability to problem solve in an active environment Are in good academic and judicial standing
