The ideal candidate will be a specialist in Early Modern art history, and possess the capability and willingness to work across the breadth of the collection and with diverse graphic media. Under minimal supervision, develops, administers, and presents the GRI’s special collections of prints and drawings by acquisitions and donations, maintaining and managing them in collaboration with colleagues.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>The Associate Curator of Prints and Drawings continually expands knowledge of collections, particularly by demonstrating expertise in diverse graphic media, building on areas of collection strength and filling in lacunae to establish new research opportunities and initiatives. The Associate Curator will develop a reputation as a major contributor to the field by proposing innovative exhibitions and programming, spearheading impactful publications, and representing the GRI through public presentations and lectures.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>This position is not eligible for employer-based immigration sponsorship. Applicants must have authorization to work for Getty in the United States without the need for sponsorship, currently or in the future.</p>\n<h2>Major Job Responsibilities</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Applies advanced knowledge of art history and art education to complex curatorial assignments</li>\n <li>Performs complex scholarly research to support the institutional mission</li>\n <li>Organizes significant exhibitions, major publications, or major acquisitions</li>\n <li>Cultivates connections nationally and internationally with scholars and museum colleagues</li>\n <li>Actively participates in acquisitions and collection development</li>\n <li>Publishes and lectures in area of specialization</li>\n <li>Assesses conservation needs of the collections; participates in digitization; assesses loan requests</li>\n <li>Collaborates in and may lead research projects; shares collections and/or serves as a resource to scholars, visitors and staff</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Master's degree or PhD in art history, or a related discipline OR 4-7 years of curatorial experience</li>\n <li>Fluency in at least one foreign language (related to field of specialization) required</li>\n <li>Skilled in all curatorial functions</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Demonstrated ability to build long-term relationships, collaborate and direct teams across disciplines</li>\n <li>Competent with collection management and digital asset management tools</li>\n <li>Accomplished in art historical research and writing</li>\n <li>Ability to communicate and distill information for a specialized audience or the general public</li>\n <li>Ability to adapt written material for a variety of audiences online or in print</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Benefits and Perks</h2>\n<p>Here are just some examples that Getty offers/provides for full-time employees:</p>\n<p> </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Medical, Dental and Vision insurance coverage, starting on date of hire.
