    "description": "<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p>We are seeking a <strong>Senior Data Scientist</strong> to lead the design, development, and deployment of advanced analytical models and machine learning solutions that drive mission and business impact. This role requires deep expertise in statistical modeling, feature engineering, ML experimentation, and applied problem solving. The Senior Data Scientist will lead project workstreams, guide modeling strategy, mentor junior team members, and partner with engineering, product, and mission stakeholders to translate analytical insights into actionable outcomes.  </p>\n<h2>Contributions</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Analyze contact center data (call volume, performance, trends)</li>\n <li>Develop KPIs, metrics, and performance insights</li>\n <li>Support decision-making with actionable analytics</li>\n <li>Develop machine learning models using frameworks such as scikit-learn, XGBoost, PyTorch, TensorFlow, or similar libraries. </li>\n <li>Perform feature engineering, dataset preparation, and model optimization to improve predictive accuracy and operational performance. </li>\n <li>Evaluate models using appropriate statistical methods and performance metrics, documenting findings and informing iterative improvements. </li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Ability to hold a position of public trust with the U.S. government. </li>\n <li>Bachelor’s Degree and 10 years of experience\n  <ul>\n   <li>OR Masters Degree and 8 years of experience</li>\n   <li>OR no degree and 14 years of experience</li>\n  </ul></li>\n <li>2+ years of experience building and evaluating machine learning models or performing advanced analytics. </li>\n <li>Proficiency in Python and core data science libraries (Pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, Matplotlib/Seaborn). </li>\n <li>Strong analytical and statistical skills</li>\n <li>Experience with operational datasets (contact center preferred)</li>\n <li>SQL, Python, Excel, PowerBI  and data visualization experience</li>\n <li>Ability to clearly communicate insights to stakeholders</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>About <strong>steampunk</strong></h2>\n<p>Steampunk relies on several factors to determine salary, including but not limited to geographic location, contractual requirements, education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience. The projected compensation range for this position is $120,000 to $180,000.  The estimate displayed represents a typical annual salary range for this position. Annual salary is just one aspect of Steampunk’s total compensation package for employees.
