Key Results Areas/Main Tasks Department: Packaging The setup of workstations prior to the commencement of work daily The breakdown of workstations at the end of the day Hanging birds at the re-hang trough Packaging product at the designated workstations in a manner which is of the best quality desired The packaging of product free of all extraneous material, e.g. any equipment parts, glass, staples, string or thread, metal objects, tie twist, hair, stones and buttons. Please note that rubber bands are used in the packaging process when tray packing whole birds. Packaging of product in the specific packaging material as stipulated by customer requirements. Order codes and Customer names when necessary must be written clearly and legibly The product must be free of any stained (blood stains or blood spots) or damaged tissue. Staff may be asked to report to work on no-kill days as the need arises Removal of garbage and packaging material at the end of your daily assignment Washing down of general work areas as it relates to GMP All Operating Procedures must be followed as per the company’s ISO policy Any other general work duties as it relates to Chickmont Foods business Department: Deboning Examine product and remove red, bloody and discolourations and remove said parts Hand Bone rejected breast from De-Boning Machine Package whole cages as per daily requirements and customer specifications Recover excess meat which may be found in the cage area Clip de-boned meat to customer specifications Operate Thigh-De-boning Machine in accordance with machinery specifications Clip thighs to produce, boneless, skinless or with skin to customer specifications Remove all bones, cartilage (gristle) or any other bloody areas prior to the packaging process Hand bone split breast to customer specifications Package all completed products as per customer requirements Washing All Operating Procedures must be followed as per the company’s ISO policy Any other general work duties as it relates to Chickmont Foods business Department: Janitorial Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, squeegeeing or vacuuming Gather and empty trash. Service, clean, and supply restrooms Clean and polish furniture and fixtures as required Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors, using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegees. Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications. Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment as required Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment, in order to prevent damage to floors and         fixtures. Requisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties. Cleaning and checking electrical appliances use to ensure that hazards are not created All Operating Procedures must be followed as per the company’s ISO policy Any other general work duties as it relates to Chickmont Foods business Department: Laundry Requisition supplies and equipment needed for laundry and maintenance duties. Set up detergents and washing aids as per the laundry requirements Ensure that the laundry has been washed in a manner which has removed all soils All laundry is to be dried properly to ensure clothing is ready to wear All laundry is to be folded and placed in their designated area for staff, visitors and Management The laundry room is always to be kept neat and tidy The laundry room is to be free of litter, unwanted debris and paraphernalia always All Operating Procedures must be followed as per the company’s ISO policy Any other general work duties as it relates to Chickmont Foods business Department: Back Dock All duties related to the processing of chickens and other poultry Offloading and Reloading of trucks for chicken and other poultry processing purposes Loading Birds on conveyor for hanging purposes Hanging birds at the stipulated line speed Washing of crates and operating the machinery for that purpose Cleaning and maintaining blood system Cleaning all areas and machinery designated by Supervisor Transporting offal to Rendering Plant Assist in maintaining the compound as it relates to GMP (de-bushing, rat bait, drainage, painting, road works) All Operating Procedures must be followed as per the company’s ISO policy Any other general work duties as it relates to Chickmont Foods business Department: Kill / Feet & Evisceration KILL / FEET All duties related to the processing of chickens and other poultry Backing up the Killer Machine Monitor the Scalder and Plucker Machines Loading Feet into the Foot Plucker Offloading feet to be packaged off for sale Manually removing feathers from birds when not plucked properly All Operating Procedures must be followed as per the company’s ISO policy Any other general work duties as it relates to Chickmont Foods business EVISCERATION All duties related to the processing of chickens and other poultry Manually removing feet which have been missed by the hock cutter machine Manually removing heads which have been missed by the head removal machine Manually venting birds too small for machine or mis-cut birds Rehanging at the trough at the stipulated line speeds Harvesting the edible offal (livers, gizzards and hearts) in a manner which is conducive to good food safety practices Inspecting birds to ensure all the internal entrails have been removed and if not remove them Backing up the cropping machine to remove the swallow pipe and feed crops whenever present a manner that keeps the neck skin on the birds Using the manual Gizzard Machine (in the safe manner) to provide properly peeled gizzards Keeping the Machines, Pans and Floor cleaned Any other general work duties as it relates to Chickmont Foods business All Operating Procedures must be followed as per the company’s ISO policy Job Requirements General Ability to follow instructions and work independently Strong attention to detail Must be able to stand for long periods of time Must be able to work in extremely cold temperatures for an extended period of time Must be able to lift up to 25 kgs/60 pounds.
