Description

Are you interested in our Fall 2027 Basic Hair Program?  We'd love to get you more information about registering for this program and getting you started on your journey toward becoming a successful hair stylist. This "Basic Hair Design" series equips students for entry level positions in the hair industry. Some of the very top stylists in the valley are part of designing and teaching at our education center.  This means our students learn from the best, in a manner specifically designed by Refinery House Creative Director: Aly Joyce.  Part of what makes our program great (besides being led by very successful stylists) is that we are committed to keeping our student to teacher ratio low, and so currently cap the class at 6-10 (depending on teacher ratio).  There are still spots available for Spring & Fall 2027, though we anticipate both programs being full at the time they begin.  We've had a great deal of success bringing students from zero experience to full time working stylists. Schedule: The Fall program dates are as follows: Tues - Fri 10 am-3 pm Sept 13, 2027 - March 17, 2028 Theory portion complete: Nov 26, 2027 Technical portion: Nov 30, 2027 - March 17, 2028 Periodically there are instances of interruption to service.  We do try to give as much notice as possible to accommodate changes to the schedule. As needed, we'll add training hours in salon to make up for any missed days. The following are the scheduled breaks for the Fall 2027 program: December 21- 24, 2027 Details: The program runs for 26 wks + one week vacation, and consists of 520hrs.  There are 10 classes that make up the curriculum designed by Aly Joyce, these are described briefly on our website. Admission Requirements: All applicants will need to be available for an in-person placement interview Must be a high-school graduate or 19+at the start of the program Upon acceptance, a non-refundable $200 registration fee is required with this completed form Reference from a teacher, employer, or other professional may be required Resume or expository work experience history All student applicants must demonstrate English comprehension by submitted evidence in the form of one of the following: 1. A high school diploma from an English highschool: 3 years of full-time secondary education (Grades 8-12) have been successfully completed in the program’s language of instruction in a country where the language of instruction is one of the principal languages. This may include successful completion of a BC Adult Graduation program. 2. 2 years of full-time post-secondary education* have been completed in the program’s language of instruction in a country where the language of instruction is one of the principal languages. 3. Where English is the program’s language of instruction, evidence of achievement in a recognized standardized language test/assessment* at an overall level equivalent to IELTS 5.5 (academic) or higher. All accepted language tests/assessments must be listed with a minimum score/level specified for each. ‘Or equivalent’ will not be accepted. Language tests must include assessments of reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Provide verified results for one of the English language proficiency tests listed below. Test results must be dated no more than two years before the start date of the program: International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic: overall score of 5.5 or higher. Canadian Academic English Language (CAEL) Test: overall score of 40 or higher. Duolingo English Test: overall score of 95 or higher. 1. Evidence of graduation from a language program with an established pathway/articulation agreement allowing direct entry (no further testing required) to a diploma or degree program at a public institution in Canada. Program admission requirements may not be waived by the student or the institution. Cost: Tuition $9700 Professional Kit $2500 + $125gst Registration Fee: $200 Total Cost: $12,525
