Description
DGA is seeking a motivated professional for an 8-week, in-person summer opportunity based in our Sacramento, California office. Running from June through August 2026, this part-time role offers a highly predictable schedule of 18 hours per week, with fixed shifts on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. If you are looking for a structured, engaging summer role in the Sacramento area, we welcome your application.
Position Overview
Are you looking to bridge the gap between academic theory and real-world architectural
practice? DGA is seeking motivated, tech-savvy students for our Design Technology &
Architecture Summer Internship.
Based in the Sacramento area, this structured 8-week program is designed to give you
hands-on experience at the intersection of design and technology. While you will work
closely with our Design Technology (DT) team to optimize workflows and drive
innovation, you will also gain valuable exposure to all facets of our firm’s
operations—including architectural design, specialized lab planning, and construction
administration.
What You Will Do
As an intern, your time will be split between vital production work, strategic research, and
operational exposure:
Production & Project Support: Assist project teams with BIM modeling updates,
library management, and red-line corrections.
DT Innovation & R&D: Work under the supervision of our Senior DT Manager to test
new Revit plugins and help automate design workflows.
Shadowing & Mentorship: Shadow team members in project meetings and site
visits. You will also be paired with a dedicated DT lead and a senior technical staff
member to guide your professional growth.
Firm Operations Exposure: Learn how a firm operates holistically through direct
exposure to architectural design, complex lab planning, and the construction
administration process.
Final Presentation: Conclude your summer with a 15-minute "Show and Tell"
presentation to firm Principals, showcasing your growth and contributions.
Qualifications & Requirements
We are looking for emerging talent from Sacramento-area regional universities and local
community college districts.
Target Programs: Currently enrolled in a Design Technology, Architecture, or
Interior Design program.
Technical Aptitude: Strong proficiency or foundational knowledge in Revit is highly
desired.
Mindset: Highly curious, eager to learn, and passionate about how technology
enhances the design process.
Availability: Must be able to commit to the fixed 18-hour weekly, in-person
schedule (Tue/Wed/Thu, 9 AM – 3 PM) for the full 8-week duration.
Benefits & Perks
Accrued paid sick leave (1 hour for every 30 hours worked, per CA law).
401(k)
Direct mentorship from senior technical and technology leadership.
How to Apply
To apply, please submit your resume and a digital portfolio demonstrating your academic
or personal design projects (Revit samples highly encouraged) to our job posting.
Selection Process: Selected applicants will be invited to a 30-minute interview focusing
on technical aptitude, Revit proficiency, and professional curiosity.
