We encourage you to apply and become a valued member of our vibrant campus community today!&nbsp;</p>\n<p>At the <strong>University of Wyoming</strong>, we are committed to creating a supportive and enriching workplace.&nbsp;</p>\n<p><strong>JOB TITLE: &nbsp;</strong></p>\n<p>Vivarium Laboratory Aid I in MORF&nbsp;</p>\n<p><strong>JOB PURPOSE: </strong> &nbsp;</p>\n<p>Take care of research animals in the Science Initiative’s Model Organism Research Facility.</p>\n<p><strong>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:&nbsp;</strong></p>\n<p>- Change and clean mice cages<br>\n  - Operate cage washer to wash dirty cages<br>\n  - Feed and water rodents<br>\n  - Wash and fill water bottles<br>\n  - Feed Xenopus frogs and clean filters and maintain water quality parameters<br>\n  - Routine functional checks and cleaning for the animal facility (check temperatures and ventilation, sweep/mop, etc.)<br>\n  - Miscellaneous related tasks</p>\n<p><strong>SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:&nbsp;</strong></p>\n<p>- Provide weekend coverage for animal health checks, provide any necessary care or feeding required during these checks</p>\n<p>- Help provide holiday coverage or technician coverage when full time technicians are on vacation or sick</p>\n<p>- Be able to keep a consistent working schedule every semester. The working schedule can be adjusted to your class schedule at the beginning of every semester.<br>\n  - Be able to work during the summer and winter holiday season. Pre-arranged shift coverage with colleagues is available<br>\n  - At least one-year commitment to work</p>\n<p><strong>COMPETENCIES:&nbsp;</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Attention to Detail</li>\n <li>Consistency</li>\n <li>Analysis/Problem Identification  &nbsp;</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:&nbsp;</strong></p>\n<p>High School Diploma or GED </p>\n<p>Ability to work on your feet for extended periods of time (up to three hours)</p>\n<p>Effectively and safely perform the essential duties of the job with or without reasonable accommodations. Understanding that, this position requires physically handling rodents, working in close proximity to their waste and cages, working around significant amounts of sawdust and other allergens, and other miscellaneous tasks. (Candidates with allergies and severe sensitivities may have a difficult time with these conditions.
