Founded in 1970, we’re one of the largest and longest operating hunger relief organizations in Chicago. We also provide free, trauma-informed mental health counseling and other social services, such as job and housing assistance. We strive to serve the needs of the whole person — with respect and dignity, always.</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Arial,sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Nourishing Hope offers our neighbors nutritious food using a choice-based distribution model and access to life-changing social services including:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Arial,sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Monthly food distribution and additional produce pickup through five different food access programs;</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Arial,sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Home delivery services for older adults, homebound neighbors and neighbors living with disabilities;</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Arial,sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Social services including case management, mental health counseling, job search support, domestic violence intervention, referrals and public benefits assistance (SNAP, healthcare, government forms) for anyone in need.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Arial,sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Nourishing Hope serves tens of thousands of people each year, providing more than 4 million meals through our programs, in addition to partnerships with other community organizations. This year, Nourishing Hope will provide about 200,000 food and social services to our Chicago neighbors.</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(34, 34, 34); font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt; font-weight: bold\">Position Summary</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Arial,sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">The part time Program Coordinator supports and ensures a fair and organized system for Nourishing Hope’s food distribution programs. This position serves as a liaison for pantry clients and supports all aspects of procurement, storage and distribution of goods. </span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(34, 34, 34); font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt; font-weight: bold\">Schedule and Locations</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Arial,sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">This position will be based primarily at the Sheridan Market, 3945 N. Sheridan Road in Chicago, and may be cross-trained to support all food programs across Nourishing Hope’s four locations.</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Arial,sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">The work schedule is </span><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Arial,sans-serif; font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\">Monday and Saturday,</span><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Arial,sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\"> with the option to work other shifts. Schedules with site locations will be established quarterly. This position is fully onsite.</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(34, 34, 34); font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt; font-weight: bold\">Essential Job Functions</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Arial,sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Within a culture of respect for our clients, distribute food according to Nourishing Hope, state, and federal guidelines.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Arial,sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Act as the frontline point of contact for clients, providing assistance, guidance, and support as needed.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Arial,sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Manage client expectations regarding wait times, service availability, and any other pertinent information, ensuring transparency and clarity.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Arial,sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Collect, store and package food according to pantry, state, and federal guidelines.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Arial,sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">In partnership with the food acquisition team, manage ongoing food donor relationships. </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Arial,sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Support inventory and relationships with The Greater Chicago Food Depository, U.S.D.A., F.E.M.A and other partners.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Arial,sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Maintain pantry site sanitation that meets or exceeds government and monitoring agencies’ standards.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Arial,sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Train and supervise volunteers to assist with food distribution.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Arial,sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Produce necessary reports required by supervisor, donors, and government agencies.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Arial,sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Create and track benchmarks of the program’s success, and make recommendations for improvement.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Arial,sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Act as an ambassador for the mission of Nourishing Hope to the larger community.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(34, 34, 34); font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt; font-weight: bold\">Qualifications</span><span style=\"color: rgb(34, 34, 34); font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\"> </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt; font-style: italic; font-weight: bold\">Required</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Arial,sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">High School diploma/GED, college degree preferred.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Arial,sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">2-5 years work experience in social services, customer service, or grocery </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Arial,sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and push/pull up to 100 pounds using manual carts and dollies.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Arial,sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Strong technology skills including:</span></li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Arial,sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Arial,sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Ability to use and maintain Salesforce client database.</span></li>\n</ul>\n</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Arial,sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Familiarity with issues that are common among the population served including, but not limited to, homelessness, mental illness, substance abuse, mental and physical disability, and the elderly.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Arial,sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Ability to obtain and maintain food service sanitation certification in accordance with municipal and state laws.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Arial,sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Ability to handle an occasional volatile situation calmly, professionally and respectfully.
