Description

Public Safety Specialist Exemption Status: Non-Exempt Pay Grade(s): 8/9 ($27.51+ DOE) Purpose: The Public Safety Specialist supports the OVW Rural Domestic Violence Project by coordinating outreach, prevention education, and public safety collaboration efforts across rural communities. The position assists with survivor outreach and safety planning, supports trauma-informed public safety training, and helps coordinate regional efforts to address domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, and stalking. This role contributes to community safety initiatives through coordination with law enforcement, tribal courts, schools, and community partners while supporting culturally responsive services for rural and tribal communities. The position also supports development of the Regional Response Guide and the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Persons (MMIP) Community Response Plan to strengthen coordinated regional response efforts. Additionally, this role provides support for the Public Safety Division’s Tribal Emergency Operations Center (TEOC) Incident Command System (ICS) training and emergency preparedness efforts, contributing to overall program efficiency and readiness.
