JOB SPECIFICATIONS:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><br><span>Must possess the ability to perform the following:</span>\n<ol>\n<li><br><span>Communicate effectively (verbally, in writing, and electronically) with THA staff, Medical Staff, other healthcare professionals, patients and the general public. </span><span>Strong human relation skills are a must.</span></li>\n<li><br><span>Meets patient’s goals and needs and provides quality care by assessing and </span>interpreting evaluations and test results, determining occupational therapy treatment plans in consultation with physicians or by prescription.</li>\n</ol>\n</li>\n<li><br><span>Promotes maximum independence by selecting and constructing therapies </span><br><span>according to individual’s physical capacity, intelligence level and interest.</span></li>\n<li><br><span>Evaluates results of occupational therapy by observing, noting and evaluating </span><br><span>patient’s progress, recommending and implementing adjustments and modifications.</span></li>\n<li><br><span>Assures continuation of therapeutic plan following discharge by designing and instructing patients, families, and caregivers in home exercise programs; recommending and/or providing assistive equipment; recommending outpatient or home health follow-up programs.</span></li>\n<li><br><span>Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records.</span></li>\n<li><br><span>Maintains patient confidence and protects hospital operations by keeping </span><span>information confidential.</span></li>\n<li><br><span>Must be able to relate positively and professionally to patients, families and outside agencies and work cooperatively with co-workers, setting standards and examples </span><span>for staff and others to follow.</span></li>\n<li><br><span>Maintain an active interest in professional organizations.</span></li>\n<li><br><span>Must be of good moral character.</span></li>\n<li><br><span>Willingness to work independently and use good time management skills.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span>2.     Qualifications:</span></p>\n<ol>\n<li><br><span>Diploma from an ACOTE accredited college or university in the field of Occupational </span><span>Therapy with a minimum of a B.S. degree.</span></li>\n<li><br><span>Registered with the National Board Certification of Occupational.</span></li>\n<li><br><span>Must hold and maintain a current and valid license by the State of Alabama Board </span><span>of Occupational Therapy as a licensed Occupational Therapist.</span></li>\n<li><br><span>Maintain CPR certification.</span></li>\n<li><br><span>Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language in order to communicate effectively and tactfully with staff, vendors, and the general public.</span></li>\n</ol>\n<p><span>3.     Physical Requirements:</span></p>\n<ol>\n<li><br><span>Perform all physical requirements of a full workday.</span></li>\n<li><br><span>Cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position and set the proper </span><span>example of such.</span></li>\n<li><br><span>Must be in good general health and capable of maintaining regular attendance.</span></li>\n<li><br><span>Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics allowing all requirements of </span><span>position be met effectively with support personnel and agencies.</span></li>\n<li><br><span>Must be capable of performing the Essential Job Functions of this position with or </span><span>without accommodation and be able to pass a post-employment exam, if required.</span></li>\n</ol>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span>JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</span></p>\n<ol>\n<li><br><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span>Completes daily schedule of patient evaluations, treatments and discharges.</span></span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span>Maintains the highest possible level of departmental cleanliness and safety.</span></span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span>Administers occupational therapy per physicians’ orders:</span></span>\n<ol>\n<li><span>Evaluates patients utilizing observations, patient self —report and standardized measures.</span></li>\n<li><br><span>Notes diagnoses of patient and takes all precautions observing indications and contraindications.</span></li>\n<li><br><span>Prepares patient for treatment by proper dress and position</span></li>\n<li><span>Applies agents such as ultrasound, electrical stimulation, hot packs, TENS, cold </span><span>packs, ice massage, spinal manipulation, therapeutic exercise, gait training, </span><span>therapeutic activity for balance and transfers, tolerance to activity, safety education and HEP.</span></li>\n<li><span>Observe and evaluate treatment effect recommend changes to physician if indicated.</span></li>\n<li><br><span>Communicates with patient throughout treatment and answer all questions</span></li>\n<li>Check frequently on patient during treatment period to satisfy all patient needs.</li>\n<li><br><span>Returns equipment and supplies to proper storage area.</span></li>\n<li><span>Make phone calls to referring physicians for clarification or elaboration of </span><span>treatment orders</span></li>\n<li><span>Assess, distinguish, report, and act upon all patients’ physical care.</span></li>\n<li><span>Assign patients to staff as needed</span><br></li>\n</ol>\n</li>\n<li><br><span>Maintain records pertinent to patient treatment:</span>\n<ol>\n<li><br><span>Evaluate patient and establish treatment programs and </span></li>\n<li><br><span>Document daily treatment, outcome, treatment changes, and </span></li>\n<li><br><span>Documents discharge </span></li>\n</ol>\n</li>\n<li><br><span>Supervise all work of staff </span></li>\n<li><br><span>Care of the physical plant and machinery related to the PT/OT department.</span></li>\n<li><br><span>Maintains standards as established by the American Occupational Therapy </span><span>Association regarding treatment procedure and professional ethics.</span></li>\n<li><br><span>Completes OT services in various settings as assigned by Director</span></li>\n<li><br><span>Follows all Policies and Procedures as established within the department/hospital</span></li>\n<li><br><span>Will be available for weekend coverage, as <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">needed/assigned.</span></span></li>\n</ol>",
