Description Division/Unit: Trial Division CS Title: Community Coordinator Position Title: Supervising Major Case Analyst Salary Range: $92,924 – $98,583 Job Description: The New York County District Attorney's Office (DANY) has an opening for a Supervising Major Case Analyst. In this role, the analyst will work with both the Director of the Analyst Program and Trial Bureau leadership to help oversee the analytical work of analysts within a Trial Bureau. They will assist with officewide training efforts and serve as thought leaders on emerging investigative techniques. Finally, they will work with Assistant District Attorneys (ADAs) to build and enhance complex cases and investigations. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Oversee the analytical work of analysts within the bureau, such as through setting up regular analyst check in's, reviewing analyst work product, participating in new hire training initiatives, and working with bureau leadership to identify and address various bureau analyst-related needs. Support administrative supervisors, as needed and within assigned scope, by participating in monitoring, communication, and appropriate escalation related to work activities and expectations for administrative and investigative staff. Prepare written materials and trainings to support development of fellow investigative and analytical staff. Participate in and occasionally lead regular roundtables to discuss successful techniques, lessons learned, or other relevant topics. Stay abreast of new developments in investigative techniques and tools and consult with Director of Analyst Program in pursuit of such opportunities to improve our practice both division and office wide. Identify, collect, review, analyze, and present evidence relevant to investigations, including but not limited to surveillance video, phone records, financial records, extraction reports, social media, online service records, and other electronically stored information from physical media or online storage. Create presentations, diagrams, spreadsheets, charts, and other visual aids for investigative use, grand jury proceedings, and trial presentations. Create location maps using electronically stored geolocation information, cell-site data, or other evidence, and perform analyses of patterns of communications and relationships between parties. Assist ADAs in developing long-term investigations into criminal activity. Design investigative plans for discrete criminal incidents and assist in executing those plans. Serve as the liaison with the High Technology Analysis Unit: collaborate with analysts and assist ADAs in interpreting and understanding forensic reports and results. Testify in grand jury proceedings, hearings, and trials by describing complex analytical processes in laymen’s terms and responding to cross-examination about such processes. In addition to the Minimum Qualification Requirements, all candidates must possess the following: Level 1 – bachelor’s degree from an accredited college with at least four (4) year of investigative and or analytical experience in the field of criminal investigations, with a strong preference prior experience working with law enforcement. Level 2 – bachelor’s degree from an accredited college with at least five (5) year of investigative and or analytical experience in the field of criminal investigations, with a strong preference prior experience working with law enforcement. Level 3 – bachelor’s degree from an accredited college with at least six (6) years of investigative and or analytical experience in the field of criminal investigations, with a strong preference prior experience working with law enforcement. *Master’s degree can be substituted for years of experience. * Preferred Requirements/Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with various internal units, external law enforcement agencies, corporate entities, and compliance officers to build institutional relationships. Strong knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, video editing, mapping, and internet search and research capability required. Ability to quickly learn and use various computer systems is essential. Must possess a readiness to learn with minimal guidance and supervision. Excellent organization, task-management, communication, creative problem-solving, and writing skills are essential; must be detail-oriented. Data visualization skills and data analysis presentation skills are preferred. Ability to communicate effectively with various internal units and external agencies, including law enforcement agencies, corporate entities, and compliance officers. Command of open-source investigation tools and public record databases (e.g. CLEAR, TLO, and LexisNexis) and resources used to investigate criminal backgrounds, such as eJustice, and programs/databases created or maintained by the New York Police Department, Department of Corrections, or other law enforcement agencies. Familiarity with Adobe Premiere Pro, Windows Movie Maker, Audacity, various video player programs, Cellebrite, etc. Experience with mapping and geographic information system software and tools, such as Google Maps, NYCityMap (DoITT), ArcGIS, etc. Experience with social media investigations, and the gathering and analysis of electronically stored information from social media platforms, email, and other electronic accounts, as well as cellphones and other electronic devices. Equal experience with and command of traditional records and other evidence gathering and review (e.g. phone work, video surveillance, medical records, etc.). Data visualization and data analysis presentation skills and experience are strongly preferred. Prior experience supervising the work of analysts, conducting trainings for analysts, or leading a team in analytical projects or related experience preferred.
