Description
This position is primarily for educational or religious purposes and should be used for providing valuable educational experiences for the Intern. It is to give the Intern an opportunity to see how principles and practices learned in their educational institutions are applied in actual work setting. Under general supervision, the Intern performs work as assigned by the department.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will assist in identifying and cultivating relationships with national and global faith leaders while tracking key opportunities for interfaith engagement. You will help maintain and organize department databases, including influencer contacts and interfaith events, ensuring information is accurate and up to date. The position also involves supporting large-scale events such as temple open houses, General Conference, concerts, and other gatherings, as well as helping host visiting religious leaders and interfaith partners at Church headquarters. Additionally, you will contribute to research, writing, and communications that support interfaith efforts and initiatives.
This internship provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a mission-driven environment while contributing to meaningful, relationship-centered work on a global scale.
Qualifications
Applicants must be members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with a current temple recommend and must be in their final year of studies or have graduated within the past year. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in interfaith relations, public affairs, or communications.
Candidates should demonstrate strong writing and editing abilities, including the ability to draft clear, professional correspondence and research summaries. Experience organizing information and maintaining accurate records (such as spreadsheets, tracking systems, or databases) is important. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook, is required.
Successful applicants will be self-directed, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple tasks or deadlines with minimal supervision. They should demonstrate sound judgment, professionalism, and discretion when working with sensitive information or interacting with external partners. Strong interpersonal skills are essential, including the ability to communicate confidently and respectfully with individuals from diverse religious and cultural backgrounds. Prior experience in event support, administrative coordination, research, or communications is preferred, along with progress toward or completion of a bachelor’s degree in public affairs, communications, or a related field.
