Home to immersive experiences like Treetop Adventure Tours and Salmon Tales, our mission is to provide visitors with authentic connections to the land, the community, and the stories that make Sitka unique through guided tours, cultural programs, high-quality food and exceptional hospitality.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Position Summary</strong></p><p>We are currently seeking multiple skilled Cultural Demonstrators to share and showcase Alaska indigenous traditions. These are opportunities to showcase artistic expertise, Indigenous foods knowledge, and/or cultural storytelling. The ideal candidate is passionate about preserving and sharing heritage through hands-on demonstrations and meaningful conversations.</p><p><br></p><p><u><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></u></p><p><em><strong>NOTE:</strong></em> <em><strong>Candidates only need to specialize in </strong></em><em><u><strong>one</strong></u></em><em><strong> of these three categories listed below.</strong></em></p><p><strong>Artist Demonstration</strong></p><ul><li>Create and demonstrate traditional art forms such as carving, weaving, beadwork.</li><li>Explain the cultural significance, history, and techniques behind each art form in an engaging and respectful manner.</li><li>Offer interactive opportunities for guests when appropriate, ensuring a positive, culturally accurate, and educational experience.</li></ul><p><strong>Subsistence Demonstrations</strong></p><ul><li>Demonstrate subsistence foods activities.</li><li>Explain the cultural significance, techniques and traditional and modern use of Indigenous foods.</li></ul><p><strong>Cultural Storytelling</strong></p><ul><li>Share compelling stories about history, culture, fishing, growing up in Sitka, or any stories that relate to life in Sitka.</li><li>Present to large groups and then actively engage with guests during lunch service.</li><li>Traditional stories are welcome as long as the teller has clan permission.</li><li>Serve as an ambassador for local culture, ensuring every interaction reflects respect and authenticity.</li></ul><p><strong>General Responsibilities-</strong></p><p><strong>Guest Engagement</strong></p><ul><li>Welcome and interact with guests in a warm, professional manner.</li><li>Answer questions about local art, culture, and attractions, including Sheet'ka Salmon Tales and Treetop Adventure Tours.</li><li>Promote Rainforest Park experiences and encourage deeper cultural participation.</li></ul><p><strong>Operational Support</strong></p><ul><li>Maintain a clean and organized demonstration area.</li><li>Safely handle tools, materials, and supplies.</li><li>Manage setup and breakdown for demonstrations.</li></ul><p><strong>Opportunities to Sell Artwork</strong></p><ul><li>Artist demonstrators may offer their artwork for sale during or after demonstrations, providing guests with authentic, locally made pieces to take home.</li><li>Sales must align with park guidelines and reflect cultural authenticity and respect</li></ul>",
