Job Overview Utilize specialized skill sets to support the maintenance and optimal operating condition of a variety of equipment using company approved food safety practices and policies. Responsibilities Using specialized skill sets, performs corrective maintenance and emergency maintenance on food packaging/processing equipment and facility equipment to maximize equipment up-time. Includes all equipment repairs from breakdowns, work orders or scheduled preventative maintenance. Assist in maintaining the maintenance departmental records. Troubleshoot and resolve advanced equipment mechanical/electrical issues within specialized skill sets. Repair and/or rebuild pumps, mills, gearboxes and other miscellaneous mechanical entities. Assist other maintenance mechanics in troubleshooting advanced equipment problems using specialized skill sets. Train other maintenance mechanics with up to date information to increase skill level within department. Effectively document who, what, why and when the training takes place. Promotes, adheres, and is responsible for Food Safety and Quality. Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions. Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments. Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts. Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts, using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instrument Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges. Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance. Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment. Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt. Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results. Maintenance Technicians are required to create and complete work orders for every repair, malfunction, or call through the entirety of your scheduled shift. (Ex; If you are scheduled 12 hours, each technician should have at least 9-10 hours of work orders documented per shift). It is the responsibility of the Maintenance Technician to communicate to their supervisor any missing parts, tools or equipment that is preventing you from completing a work order. Work orders need to be detailed and include all information and steps taken to ensure the technician who follows up with the work order has a clear understanding of what has already been completed on the request. Completion of assigned scheduled preventative maintenance and work orders assigned to increase asset life. Maintain equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt. Prepare daily, weekly and monthly reports documenting the activities and work performed by the maintenance department. Includes all equipment repairs from breakdowns, work orders or scheduled preventative maintenance. Assist in maintaining the maintenance office and departmental records. Any other duties as assigned. Qualifications High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience. 5+ years’ experience in advanced mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills and/or specialized training. Read and Write English. Experience in a food manufacturing environment preferred. Strong oral and written communication skills are required. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to perform multiple tasks to accomplish objectives. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a variety of technical information in mathematical and/or narrative form and deal with abstract and concrete variables. Able to comply and follow GMP Policies while in the facility, No jewelry, no acrylic nails or overlays, no false lashes, no outside food or drinks, no shorts/skirts or dresses. Bi-Lingual a positive but not required. Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; walk; use hands, fingers, handle, or feel; and talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee will be required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, and crouch on ladders or mechanical equipment/ The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to from 50lbs to 100lbs. Employee may also be required to work on platforms up to 20ft high for extend periods of time. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Work Environment: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts.
