Description

SUMMARY:A fast growing staffing agency with offices in Baltimore is hiring Therapeutic and Non-Therapeutic aides to work in Prince George's County Schools. Aides would be required to provide special education services to children 3-21 years of age. The Non-Therapeutic aide helps students to stay focused on academic task as well as transitioning, toileting and changing when appropriate. The Therapeutic aide helps students to maintain adequate behavior by assisting with the implementation of the Functional Behavioral Assessment/Behavior Intervention Plan. Aides also help students. JOB FUNCTIONS Duties may include but are not limited to:  Special lifting or handling of physically disabled students for transportation  Toileting or feeding assistance  Behavior management  Assisting with classroom management such as organizing instructional and other materials  Providing assistance with students in a computer laboratory;  Providing instructional services to students under the direct supervision of the teacher. • Duties may be carried out on school premises, during field trips, during transportation, or any other off-site activity in which the student participates. • Aides may be assigned to more than one student within a classroom depending on the specific IEP services for each child. • The aides will be responsible for their own transportation to the student’s school. If they are to accompany the student on city transportation, the aide will meet the bus company either at the student’s home, the bus company or a pre-negotiated location. • Aides are expected to be present whenever the student is present in school (for example, specialized training by an outside agency and/or school staff functions • Therapeutic Aides are trained in Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) and PCM to assist in helping with de-escalation of undesirable behaviors. QUALIFICATIONS: • Aides must have at a minimum a high school diploma or GED. Additional education may be required in some circumstances. Must also be CPI certified or PCM CERTIFIED. • Staff must be able to speak, read, write, and understand Standard English and carry out directions and instructions by the student’s teacher and/or principal. Bi-lingual aides may be requested. • Must demonstrate emotional and mental maturity as well as display an interest and a sympathetic attitude toward working with children. • Staff must be able to provide satisfactory work references and two satisfactory personal references. A satisfactory job related experience can be substituted for work references. Required experience: aides: 1 Year prior experience or related similar experience. A mandatory training is provided to all successful candidates prior to the commencement of their duties.
