We serve as a strategic partner who can navigate complex policy challenges and deliver measurable impact. role Position Overview The State Policy Senior Associate will principally support Clean Tomorrow's on-the-ground state engagement work, developing and implementing stakeholder engagement strategiesto translate Clean Tomorrow's existing policy expertise into state-level action. Initially this role will support Clean Tomorrow’s Siting Solutions Project, which works to diagnose and develop state siting and permitting policy solutions to improve the pace and scale of clean energy deployment. The ideal candidate can read a state's political and stakeholder landscape, engage coalitions that extend beyond traditional clean energy and climate constituencies, provide accurate and succinct reviews of legislative proposals, and rapidly produce clear, audience-appropriate materials for state policymakers and advocates. This role will report to the Senior Director of Policy. About Clean Tomorrow Clean Tomorrow advances policies that reduce climate emissions by turning policy ambition into action. Clean Tomorrow works to catalyze rapid change that will accelerate the innovation and growth of clean energy by conducting original research and engaging with partner organizations to identify opportunities for changes in policy that are actionable in five years or fewer. Clean Tomorrow’s strictly non-partisan stance places policy over ideology; Clean Tomorrow will form the diverse coalitions necessary to advance policies that truly reduce emissions and confront the urgency of climate change. Key Responsibilities State Political & Advocacy Strategy (60%) Assess the political and stakeholder landscape in target states and develop engagement strategies tailored to each Identify and cultivate relationships with constituencies within and outside the traditional environmental and climate advocacy communities Advise on state-specific opportunities and barriers to advancing clean energy siting reform Monitor legislative developments and political dynamics across target states Coalition Engagement & Public Affairs (20%) Coordinate and facilitate stakeholder convenings, forums, and roundtables supporting the Siting Solutions Project Build and maintain stakeholder relationships in support of clean energy siting reform Tailor Clean Tomorrow's existing research and policy materials for in-state audiences Rapidly produce policy briefs, one-pagers, and other educational materials for non-technical audiences Program & Grants Support (20%) Support grant reporting and documentation for state engagement activities Track project deliverables and ensure deadlines are met Qualifications 3+ years of experience in state-level political, public affairs, or advocacy work Demonstrated ability to build and manage stakeholder relationships in complex political environments Strong writing skills with the ability to produce clear, concise policy communications quickly Experience working across multiple states preferred; familiarity with energy or infrastructure policy preferred Advanced degree in relevant field preferred but not required (e.g., Public Policy, Political Science, Public Administration) Desired Skills & Experience Strong political instincts and ability to diagnose stakeholder dynamics quickly Experience navigating state legislative and budget processes Excellent relationship-building and interpersonal skills Ability to manage multiple workstreams across different state contexts simultaneously Strong alignment with Clean Tomorrow's mission to advance policies that reduce climate emissions by turning policy ambition into action We encourage applicants to apply if you meet many but not all the required qualifications.
