This is a vital role in ensuring the safety and reliability of our public transportation system.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Schedule:</span> Shifts may vary within shop hours: Monday-Friday 6:00 AM-10:00 PM, Saturday 9:00 AM-10:00 PM.</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">About the Role:</span></p>\n<p>As a Transit Mechanic, you will be responsible for:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Conducting thorough inspections of buses and vehicles.</li>\n<li>Removing, repairing, and replacing parts and components using tools and equipment safely and professionally.</li>\n<li>Performing preventative maintenance to keep our fleet in top condition.</li>\n<li>Maintaining a clean, efficient, and safe shop area.</li>\n<li>Reading, writing, and performing basic mathematical calculations.</li>\n<li>Working varied hours to support scheduled operations.</li>\n<li>Operating vehicles safely and efficiently.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Qualifications:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>High school diploma or equivalent preferred.</li>\n<li>Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates the required knowledge and abilities is acceptable. A typical path to acquiring these skills includes:\n<ul>\n<li>Graduation from a technical school or equivalent.</li>\n<li>Five (5) years of verifiable automotive mechanical experience.</li>\n</ul>\n</li>\n<li>ASE or Dealer Certification.</li>\n<li>Strong understanding of mechanical principles for diesel and gas engines, fluid systems, electrical systems, powertrains, chassis, and preventative maintenance inspections.</li>\n<li>Experience with brakes (air/hydraulic), heating, air conditioning, hydraulic systems, and transmissions.</li>\n<li>Must possess a valid Driver’s License and be able to obtain and maintain a valid Class B CDL with Passenger endorsement, issued by the Arkansas Department of Motor Vehicles, or a Commercial Learner's Permit (CLP).
