As we continue to expand, we are looking for a strategic, hands-on finance leader who can bring clarity, insight, and structure to a growing organization.</p><p>The Director of Finance will partner closely with leadership to support financial strategy, reporting, budgeting, and sustainable growth across our hospitals. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to make a meaningful impact in a people-first company that is growing while staying true to its independent, family-owned values.</p><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><strong>Financial Reporting &amp; Consolidations</strong></p><ul style=\"margin-left: 0in;\"><li>Partner with the CFO to oversee the preparation of accurate, timely consolidated financial statements across all practice entities</li><li>Lead and support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes in collaboration with the Controller</li><li>Review intercompany reconciliations and consolidation eliminations in Veterinary United&#39;s multi-entity environment</li><li>Ensure all financial reporting adheres to US GAAP standards and reflects the true financial position of the organization</li><li>Prepare and present financial reporting packages to the CFO and executive leadership, including commentary and variance analysis</li><li>Review contracts/agreements for business and financial impact</li></ul><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><strong>Strategic Planning, Budgeting &amp; Forecasting</strong></p><ul style=\"margin-left: 0in;\"><li>Lead the annual budgeting process across all entities, working with practice managers, the Controller, and the CFO to develop realistic and growth-aligned financial plans</li><li>Develop rolling forecasts and scenario models to support executive decision-making and capital allocation</li><li>Monitor budget-to-actual performance and proactively identify risks, opportunities, and corrective actions</li><li>Produce long-range financial models to support strategic initiatives, capital planning, and investor or lender reporting</li><li>Translate complex financial projections into clear, actionable insights for non-financial stakeholders</li></ul><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><strong>Acquisitions &amp; Growth Support</strong></p><ul style=\"margin-left: 0in;\"><li>Partner with the CFO and Business Development to evaluate, underwrite, and execute new practice acquisitions</li><li>Lead financial due diligence on acquisition targets, including quality of earnings analysis, liability assessment, and integration cost modeling</li><li>Oversee the financial onboarding and integration of newly acquired practices, including chart of accounts alignment, intercompany setup, and historical financial reconciliation</li><li>Support the structuring of acquisition transactions, purchase price allocations (ASC 805), and opening balance sheet entries</li><li>Maintain an active acquisition pipeline model to track deal flow, earn-out obligations, and post-close performance</li></ul><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><strong>Tax Strategy &amp; Compliance</strong></p><ul style=\"margin-left: 0in;\"><li>Serve as the primary internal liaison for all federal and state income tax matters across Veterinary United&#39;s multi-entity structure</li><li>Coordinate with external tax advisors on corporate income tax returns (Form 1120 / 1120-S), quarterly estimated payments, and year-end tax planning strategies</li><li>Monitor multi-state tax nexus obligations as the organization expands into new markets and ensure timely registration and compliance</li><li>Oversee sales and use tax compliance, payroll tax filings, and 1099/W-2 reporting across all entities</li><li>Identify and implement tax planning opportunities to optimize the organization&#39;s effective tax rate and cash tax position</li></ul><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><strong>Compliance, Risk &amp; Internal Controls</strong></p><ul style=\"margin-left: 0in;\"><li>Support the CFO in designing, implementing, and continuously improving internal controls across all entities to safeguard organizational assets</li><li>Identify financial, operational, and regulatory risks and develop mitigation strategies in partnership with leadership</li><li>Serve as a key liaison for external auditors, tax advisors, lenders, and regulatory bodies</li><li>Ensure ongoing compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local financial regulations across multi-state operations</li><li>Maintain and update the organization&#39;s accounting policies and procedures in alignment with US GAAP and organizational growth</li></ul><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><strong>Financial Analytics &amp; KPIs</strong></p><ul style=\"margin-left: 0in;\"><li>Design and maintain a comprehensive suite of financial and operational KPIs tailored to veterinary practice performance and organizational health</li><li>Deliver insightful variance analysis, trend reporting, and executive-ready financial commentary on a monthly and quarterly basis</li><li>Partner with operations, practice managers, and the CSO to interpret financial results and drive data-informed decisions</li><li>Leverage financial data to assess practice-level performance and identify opportunities for margin improvement and cost optimization</li></ul><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><strong>Team Leadership &amp; CFO Support</strong></p><ul style=\"margin-left: 0in;\"><li>Serve as a key advisor and right hand to the CFO, stepping in to represent financial operations as needed across internal and external stakeholder engagements</li><li>Coach Site Leaders in financial literacy and best practices</li><li>Mentor and develop the Controller and broader accounting team, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement</li><li>Collaborate cross-functionally with HR, operations, IT, legal, and practice leaders to support the organization&#39;s strategic and financial goals</li><li>Champion Veterinary United&#39;s people-first values within the finance function, building a team environment rooted in trust, transparency, and shared purpose</li></ul><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><strong><u>Requirements</u></strong></p><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><strong>Education &amp; Credentials</strong></p><ul style=\"margin-left: 0in;\"><li>Bachelor&#39;s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Data Analytics or a related field (required)</li><li>Master&#39;s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration (MBA) strongly preferred</li><li>CPA,CFA, CMA, CFP, FRM or relevant professional certification preferred</li></ul><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><strong>Experience</strong></p><ul style=\"margin-left: 0in;\"><li>10+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience, with at least 4 years in a Director of Finance, VP of Finance, or senior financial leadership role</li><li>Demonstrated experience in a multi-location, multi-entity environment &mdash; healthcare, veterinary, or DSO/MSO experience a strong plus</li><li>Proven track record in financial planning and analysis (FP&amp;A), budgeting, feasibility analysis, and long-range modeling</li><li>Hands-on experience supporting mergers, acquisitions, and post-close financial integration</li><li>Experience managing tax compliance in a multi-state corporate environment, including coordination with external tax advisors</li><li>Background in building, improving, or scaling accounting and finance infrastructure in a growth-stage organization</li></ul><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><strong>Technical Skills</strong></p><ul style=\"margin-left: 0in;\"><li>Deep knowledge of US GAAP and financial reporting standards, including ASC 805 (Business Combinations) and ASC 606 (Revenue Recognition)</li><li>Proficiency in accounting software such as Sage Intacct;
