    "description": "<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p><strong>ABOUT THE POSITION</strong></p>\n<p>VHB’s Watertown, Massachusetts office is seeking a <strong>Geomatics Equipment Operator</strong> to join our team. Check out VHB’s Geomatics service page to learn more about this team and our capabilities! </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Please note this role is primarily field-based and involves regular onsite work at project locations.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Perform various land surveying tasks under the direction of more senior Land Surveyors including; Operation, transport and setup of Total Stations (Manual and Robotic), Data Collectors, GPS, and other Land Surveying equipment.</li>\n <li>Reconnaissance and recovery of Land Surveying markers through use of hand tools, brush cutting, and digging.</li>\n <li>Ability to transport Land Surveying Equipment, navigate and traverse through difficult terrain, environments and wooded areas.</li>\n <li>Performs construction stakeout of proposed improvements, including the installation of stakes through use of sledgehammers and hand tools.  </li>\n <li>Maintains proper care of all survey equipment.</li>\n <li>Requires valid Driver's license and ability to operate company vehicles, including large cargo vans.</li>\n <li>Some overnight travel may be required from time to time due to workshare opportunities with other VHB offices.     </li>\n <li>Documents all phases of survey work through clear field notes and data collection </li>\n <li>Land surveying including but not limited to Boundary line, Topographic survey, Construction stakeout, and utility surveys.  </li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Skills and Attributes </strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Ability to learn the proper use of GPS equipment and Manual and or Robotic Instruments. </li>\n <li>Ability to learn mathematical concepts such as the fundamentals of geometry </li>\n <li>Understands the basics of Boundary Survey, Topographic, Construction, and Utility Surveys</li>\n <li>Able to think critically</li>\n <li>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with survey staff and clients</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Qualifications</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Must have a high school diploma or GED, Associates degree preferred</li>\n <li>0-1+ years of land surveying experience</li>\n <li>Must be detail oriented, willing to work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to outdoor elements and willing to travel</li>\n <li>Must have a valid driver’s license </li>\n <li>Must be able to lift 50lbs</li>\n</ul>\n<p>Our best estimate of the hourly range for this position located in Massachusetts is $20.25/hr. - $28.00/hr. This offer is determined based on a number of job-related factors including internal comparators, skills, education, training, credentials, experience, scope and complexity of role responsibilities and geographic location.
