We will keep qualified resumes on file to contact should an available job need to be filled.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><strong>Position Scope:</strong></p><ul><li>Performs diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance on heavy equipment in the main shop.</li><li>Supports shop operations by completing assigned work orders efficiently and accurately.</li><li>Works closely with Shop Supervisors, Service Managers, and other technicians to maintain workflow and meet customer expectations.</li><li>Ensures all repairs follow manufacturer guidelines and company standards.</li><li>Represents Stowers Machinery with professionalism during internal and occasional customer interactions.</li></ul><p><strong>Knowledge and Skill Requirements:</strong></p><ul><li>Understanding of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and heavy equipment components.</li><li>Ability to read and interpret service manuals, schematics, and diagnostic reports.</li><li>Proficiency with diagnostic tools, shop equipment, and repair procedures.</li><li>Strong communication skills for reporting findings and coordinating with shop leadership.</li><li>Ability to complete accurate documentation and follow established processes.</li><li>Knowledge of safety procedures, PPE requirements, and shop best practices.</li></ul><p><strong>Preferred Qualification(s):</strong></p><ul><li>Experience repairing heavy equipment, diesel engines, or related machinery.</li><li>Familiarity with Caterpillar equipment and dealership service processes.</li><li>Certifications in diesel technology, hydraulics, or equipment repair.</li></ul><p><strong>Education Requirements:</strong></p><ul><li>High School Diploma or equivalent required.</li><li>Technical training or an Associate degree in diesel technology, heavy equipment repair, or a related field preferred.</li></ul><p><strong>Essential Job Functions:</strong></p><ul><li>Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on heavy equipment in the main shop.</li><li>Complete preventative maintenance services including fluid changes, inspections, and adjustments.</li><li>Document all findings, parts used, and repair actions in work orders.</li><li>Communicate equipment condition and recommended repairs to supervisors.</li><li>Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in clean and safe condition.</li><li>Follow all safety procedures and ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards.</li><li>Assist with moving equipment in and out of the shop as needed.</li><li>Support warranty repair processes and proper documentation.</li></ul><p><strong>Leadership Responsibilities:</strong></p><ul><li>Support less experienced technicians by sharing knowledge and proper repair techniques when needed.</li><li>Promote a safe, organized, and efficient shop environment.</li><li>Assist in training new technicians on procedures, documentation, and equipment operation.</li><li>Represent the shop positively through teamwork and professionalism.</li></ul><p><strong>Preferred Experience and Skills:</strong></p><ul><li>Hands on experience with heavy equipment diagnostics and repair.</li><li>Strong problem solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve mechanical issues.</li><li>Familiarity with Caterpillar service systems and diagnostic tools.</li><li>Ability to work efficiently in a high volume shop environment.</li></ul><p><strong>Physical and Mental Requirements:</strong></p><ul><li>Ability to lift, carry, or move heavy components and tools as required.</li><li>Ability to stand, bend, climb, or work in confined spaces for extended periods.</li><li>Ability to wear required PPE in shop environments.</li><li>Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain accuracy in a fast paced setting.</li><li>Must meet requirements for driving company vehicles if applicable.</li></ul><p><strong>Work Environment:</strong></p><ul><li>Shop based role with regular exposure to noise, machinery, and industrial conditions.</li><li>Frequent interaction with technicians, supervisors, and parts personnel.</li><li>Fast paced environment requiring adaptability and strong communication.</li><li>Standard work schedule with potential overtime during peak demand.</li></ul><p>Most work is conducted in a comfortable shop environment but exposure to site conditions may also occur.
