By managing the physical fabrication spaces of the GCAD and leading the school's strategic approach to AI and emerging technologies, this individual ensures that every student has the tools, training, and access to GCAD spaces and tools to navigate a rapidly changing technological landscape.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;This is a one-year position.</p><p><br></p><p>It will be a condition of your employment that you occupy School-provided housing, so that you will be available to fulfill the School’s needs with respect to faculty supervision of our students.&nbsp;</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Key Collaborations</strong></p><ul><li>Faculty and Staff Ethics of Innovations</li><li>Bunn Library</li><li>Student Life</li><li>Level Directors and Residential Life Leaders</li><li>Assistant Head of School for Strategic Initiatives&nbsp;</li><li>Dean of Faculty</li><li>Dean of Academics</li><li>IT Office</li><li>External Council for Innovation&nbsp;</li><li>Student AI Council&nbsp;</li></ul><p><strong>Essential Duties &amp; Responsibilities:</strong></p><p><br></p><p><strong>Academic and Campus Support</strong></p><ul><li>Teaching &amp; Instruction: Teach 2-3 classes per term in Visual Arts (Tech Design), Math, Science, or History, integrating design-thinking, fabrication, or relevant technologies where appropriate.</li><li>Interdisciplinary Growth: Partner with the Dean of Academics to support discipline-specific research initiatives and encourage departmental projects involving GCAD.</li><li>Residential &amp; Co-Curricular Contribution: Contribute to the residential character of the school through House Duty, chaperoning a weekend activity, academic advising, and coaching 1-2 terms (or equivalent).</li><li>Infrastructure Collaboration: Collaborate with IT to ensure infrastructure supports high-level technological and fabrication tools.</li></ul><p><strong>GCAD Operations, Maker Culture &amp; Programming</strong></p><ul><li>Space Oversight: Manage fabrication spaces in coordination with the Art Department Chair; maintain and replace equipment/supplies.</li><li>Access &amp; Inclusion: Ensure every 2nd Former is introduced to the GCAD through project support; manage evening and weekend supervision schedules.</li><li>Fiscal Responsibility: Oversee the makerspace budget and compile annual reviews of programmatic needs.</li><li>Safety &amp; Risk Management: Develop and enforce safety protocols for all fabrication equipment, including training certification requirements for students and staff. Ensure compliance with applicable safety standards and maintain incident-reporting procedures.</li><li>Community &amp; External Partnerships: Build pipelines for internships, collaborative projects, and alumni networks with industry innovators and tech leaders at other independent schools to support student design projects.</li><li>Student Innovation Programming: Work with the Dean of Students to embed innovation goals into student orientation and yearly programming. Organize and lead annual design challenges and support projects in the Academic showcases.</li><li>Skill Building &amp; Progression: Develop training sessions and tutorials that empower students to use GCAD thoughtfully and safely.</li><li>Other Duties (as assigned): Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed to support the school’s mission and strategic priorities.</li></ul>",
