Description
The UI/UX Designer shapes how mission analysts and decision-makers experience the team's analytic products. They lead user research, interaction and visual design, and accessibility for dashboards, internal tools, and case-management interfaces. They work alongside data scientists and engineers to ensure analytic outputs are clear, accessible, and Section 508-compliant.
Lead user research with mission analysts and stakeholders — interviews, contextual inquiry, usability testing — to inform design decisions. Translate research and requirements into user flows, wireframes, interactive prototypes, and high-fidelity designs. Develop and document UI standards, design tokens, and component libraries to drive consistency across analytic products Proactively address Section 508 compliance (36 CFR 1194.21, 1194.22, 1194.31, 1194.41) — color contrast, keyboard navigation, screen-reader support, alt text, and accessible data visualization. Partner with data scientists to design effective visualizations of complex mission data, including analytic and decision-support dashboards. Participate in software project lifecycle activities to ensure operational and performance requirements are met. Conduct accessibility testing using federally-approved methods and tools, in alignment with the customer's accessibility office.
