Provides the services of an Observer for any patient on a patient care unit who has been assessed to require constant observation in order to maximize his/her safety. Performs general receptionist and clerical duties in order to facilitate efficient functioning of the nursing unit.</p>\r\n\r\n<p>The staffing of Summit Medical Center is based on a teamwork concept. Employees may be cross trained in other clinical areas and may be expected to perform duties other than their normal ones as staffing and patient needs change.</p>\r\n\r\n<p>Responsibilities:</p>\r\n\r\n<p>1. Observes and reports patient&rsquo;s status and needs<br />\r\n2. Answers call lights and attends to or reports needs<br />\r\n3. Obtains weights, vital signs and reports results<br />\r\n4. Performs glucometer testing and reports results<br />\r\n5. Obtains specimens and transports to and sends through designated tube<br />\r\n6. Updates patient Intake/Output including oral intake only, measured urine output, and measured urinary catheter output after emptying<br />\r\n7. Assists patient with ambulation as ordered<br />\r\n8. Assists patient with ADLs including cleansing of perineal area and catheter<br />\r\n9. Assists patient with feeding/meals<br />\r\n10. Assists patient with elimination needs<br />\r\n11. Transports, transfers, moves and repositions patients<br />\r\n12. Makes occupied/unoccupied beds and assists with maintaining a safe, clean and orderly environment<br />\r\n13. Sets up simple traction<br />\r\n14. Assists with admissions, transfers and discharges<br />\r\n15. Assists with postmortem care including transport to the morgue<br />\r\n16. Gives patients and family members emotional support as necessary<br />\r\n17. Performs other duties as assigned<br />\r\n18. Maintains established center/departmental policies and procedures<br />\r\n19. Maintains confidentiality of patient and center related business<br />\r\n20. Develops and maintains an effective working relationship with patients, families, visitors and other center employees<br />\r\n21.
