This rhythm gives you the tools, connection, and autonomy you need to make a real impact.</p>\n<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p>We are looking for a Software Engineer I to join our Android engineering team. In this role you will contribute to the development and maintenance of our consumer-facing Android applications, collaborating with product, design, and cross-functional engineering teams to deliver high-quality, performant mobile experiences. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer to grow their skills in a fast-paced environment.</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Design, develop, and maintain features in our Android applications using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose.</li>\n <li>Write clean, well-tested, and maintainable code that adheres to team standards and best practices.</li>\n <li>Participate in code reviews, providing and incorporating constructive feedback.</li>\n <li>Collaborate with product managers and designers to translate requirements into polished user experiences.</li>\n <li>Debug and resolve issues across the Android application stack, including UI, networking, and local data layers.</li>\n <li>Contribute to technical documentation, sprint planning, and team ceremonies.</li>\n <li>Proactively identify opportunities to improve app performance, stability, and developer tooling.</li>\n <li>Work within CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions) to build, test, and ship releases.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<h3>Competencies</h3>\n<ul>\n <li>Strong problem-solving mindset with the ability to break down ambiguous requirements into actionable tasks.</li>\n <li>Effective communicator who can articulate technical decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.</li>\n <li>Collaborative team player who gives and receives feedback constructively.</li>\n <li>Self-motivated learner who stays current with Android platform developments and mobile engineering trends.</li>\n <li>Attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality, user-facing software.</li>\n <li>Comfortable working in an agile environment with iterative delivery cycles.</li>\n</ul>\n<h3>Technical Skills</h3>\n<ul>\n <li>Proficiency in Kotlin; familiarity with Java in an Android context.</li>\n <li>Hands-on experience with Android SDK, Jetpack libraries.</li>\n <li>Familiarity with Jetpack Compose for building declarative UI.</li>\n <li>Understanding of RESTful APIs and JSON; experience integrating third-party SDKs.</li>\n <li>Working knowledge of MVVM or similar architectural patterns.</li>\n <li>Experience with unit and instrumentation testing (JUnit, Espresso, Mockito).</li>\n <li>Familiarity with version control using Git and collaborative workflows (pull requests, branching strategies).</li>\n <li>Basic understanding of build tooling (Gradle) and CI/CD pipelines.</li>\n <li>Knowledge of Android app performance profiling and debugging tools (Android Studio Profiler, Logcat).</li>\n</ul>\n<h3>Education and Experience</h3>\n<ul>\n <li>Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.</li>\n <li>+0 years of professional Android development experience; relevant internship or project experience welcome.</li>\n <li>Demonstrated ability to ship Android features or applications (portfolio, open-source contributions, or academic projects accepted).</li>\n <li>Experience in fintech, payments, or consumer mobile applications is a plus but not required.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Benefits</h2>\n<p>Salary Range for California Residents Only: $105,300.00 to $136,916.00</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, Blackhawk Network offers benefits including 401k with employer match, medical, dental, vision, 12 paid holidays in the year 2026, 1 hour of sick pay accrual for every 30 hours worked, parental leave, life insurance, disability insurance, accident and illness insurance, health and dependent care flexible spending accounts, wellness benefits, and flexible time off for all full-time employees.  </p>\n<h2>EEO Statement</h2>\n<p>Blackhawk Network provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws.
