You will work under the guidance of senior engineers while taking increasing ownership of design tasks and coordination efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the design of mechanical and plumbing systems for a variety of building types and industry sectors. Develop mechanical system layouts and construction documentation from concept through final design phases. Coordinate with field staff, architects, contractors, and engineers to ensure compliance with project specifications and design intent during construction. Perform engineering calculations, system sizing, and technical analysis to support project development. Apply problem-solving techniques to develop efficient and innovative design solutions. Assist with preparation of construction drawings, technical reports, and project documentation. Support multidisciplinary coordination with electrical, structural, civil, and architectural teams. Provide guidance and technical support to junior staff as appropriate.
What You’ll Bring
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering program. 7+ years of experience in mechanical and plumbing system design. Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred. Experience designing HVAC, hydronic, controls, and plumbing systems including domestic water, sanitary, and venting systems. Knowledge of medical gas and fire suppression systems is a plus. Proficiency with Autodesk AutoCAD, Revit, BIM 360, and Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC). Experience with load calculation software such as Trane Trace or similar tools. Familiarity with applicable local, state, and federal codes and standards governing building system design. Ability to develop written specifications using AIA MasterSpec or SpecsIntact preferred. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet project deadlines.
