Inova Cares for Women is looking for a dedicated Behavioral Health Therapist II to join the team. This role is focused on women and children and will be full-time day shift from Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Assesses and diagnoses mental health and/or substance use disorders through a bio/psycho/social department-specific evidenced based assessment identifying patient and family goals and needs. Integrates assessment using information related to cultural, clinical, ethnic, age and other factors into the plan of care. Provides a range of therapeutic interventions, psycho-educational programming and behavioral interventions (when indicated) to assist the patient/family in achieving the goals and objectives of the individualized service plan. Provides care management to ensure that the patient and family receive and are subsequently referred to appropriate healthcare and community resources to optimize treatment/intervention outcomes. When indicated by role, participates in inpatient and community psychoeducational programs, facilitates support groups for specified disease processes related to mental health, medical diagnosis and chronic or life-limited illnesses while assisting with community outreach as needed
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Master's Degree, Ph.D., PsyD, EdD in Mental Health, Social Work, Counseling, Substance Use Disorders or Behavioral Healthrelated field. Experience : Two years of experience in mental health/substance use disorder treatment, psychoeducational programming including targeted, evidence-based interventions (crisis intervention, trauma, and integrative therapies). Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association within 3 months of hire. Crisis Prevention Institute within 6 months of hire. Licensure: Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, LMFT), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Clinical Psychologist (LCP), or Licensed Substance Abuse Professional (LSATP).
Preferred Qualifications:
LCSW licensure Experience working with children ages 3+, including play therapy modalities
Responsibilities
Provide individual and group therapy sessions to address a range of behavioral health concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, and adjustment disorders. Conduct comprehensive assessments and develop personalized treatment plans in collaboration with patients and their families. Integrate evidence-based therapeutic approaches, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and trauma-informed care, to promote healing and resilience. Collaborate with medical professionals to ensure a holistic approach to patient care, addressing both physical and mental health needs. Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in behavioral health and trauma-informed care. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient progress and treatment outcomes, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. Participate in community outreach and education initiatives to raise awareness about behavioral health issues and promote access to care. Build strong therapeutic alliances with patients, creating a safe and supportive environment for healing and growth. Provide crisis intervention and support to patients experiencing acute mental health challenges or emergencies.
Qualifications
Master's degree in Clinical Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or a related field from an accredited institution. Licensed as a Professional Counselor (LPC) or equivalent in the state of Virginia. Minimum of 2 years of experience providing behavioral health services, preferably in a community health or primary care setting. Strong knowledge of evidence-based therapeutic approaches, including CBT and trauma-informed care. Excellent clinical assessment and diagnostic skills, with the ability to develop effective treatment plans. Demonstrated commitment to cultural humility and sensitivity in working with diverse populations. Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team. Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and documentation practices. Ability to work independently and manage a caseload with minimal supervision. Flexibility to adapt to changing clinical demands and patient needs.
