Salary: This professional position follows the Collective Bargaining Agreement Salary Schedule, starting at Master's, Step 1 - $61,577 for the 26/27 SY
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7.5 hours/day, 190 days/year
Job Goal: To adhere to the standards of practice and ethical conduct of the occupational therapy profession. The OT observes, analyzes, and assesses motor dysfunction of children served by the CAIU. Based on evaluation procedures, the OT makes recommendations to ameliorate motor dysfunction that may be impairing the child's performance. Recommendations are based on occupational therapy evaluation and interdisciplinary team development of an educational plan. The OT communicates child's needs and coordinates programming with school personnel, educators, parents/guardians, the student, other agencies, and private practitioners as necessary. The OT is responsible for adhering to all federal and state regulations and CAIU policies and procedures.
Performance Responsibilities:
1. Provide individual evaluation for children with sensorimotor, self-help, and behavior needs according to accepted standardized and non-standardized assessment tools.
2. Participate, in accordance with regulation and CAIU procedures, in the multidisciplinary evaluation /re-evaluation process.
3. Assist in the development of goals, objectives, and recommendations as a part of the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or other service plan.
4. Provide:
A. Individual or classroom monitoring services to children and teachers.
B. Individual consultation for children with specific functional issues.
C. Treatment for children who qualify for service within the scope of the CAIU educational, school district, and community agency programs.
5. Participate in team meetings as appropriate.
6. Obtain parent and physician permission for occupational therapy services when appropriate.
7. Prepare reports, evaluations, and other documentation in conformance with regulation and CAIU policy and as necessary to support the recommendations and services provided.
8. Work closely with CAIU physical therapists, functioning as a team to provide the most efficient and effective delivery of services.
9. Assist in the identification of equipment needs, including the ordering and distribution of adaptive equipment.
10. Design, construct, and adapt classroom equipment and related devices, including modification of chairs, splint fabrication, feeding and/or other self-help devices, as well as communication systems consultation.
11. Organize, maintain, and inventory equipment in the treatment room and storage areas.
12. Maintain procedural safeguards related to Due Process procedures, IEP development, and laws of confidentiality in accordance with state and federal regulations.
13. Participate in long-range planning of occupational therapy services within the CAIU.
14. Develop and submit to the Supervisor, Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy, a monthly schedule and routine documentation (i.e., weekly time logs, billing information, etc.) of services provided.
15. Meet with the Supervisor on a regular basis to review occupational therapy services.
16. Complete required records and reports to CAIU standards and within stated timelines; adhere to the standards of practice and ethical conduct of the occupational therapy profession.
17. Complete a professional development plan in accordance with staff development procedures, as well as successfully complete the requirements of the plan.
18. Provide in-service training to CAIU staff and participate in program exchanges.
19. Maintain professional development through conferences and in-services as per the minimum required by the CAIU, by the PA OT Practice Act, and the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
20. Direct the activities of the Occupational Therapy Assistant, if assigned.
21. Provide fieldwork education/supervision for occupational therapy students performing fieldwork internships within the CAIU.
22. Adhere to all laws, regulations, and rules regarding confidentiality of student data, and utilize the utmost confidentiality in dealing with students and their families and when using both verbal and electronic communication.
23. Support the mission of the CAIU and its Strategic Plan.
24. Assume any other responsibilities as assigned by the Supervisor, Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy or his/her designee.
25. Assume any other responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Director or his/her designee.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
1. Master's Degree required
2. Valid PA Occupational Therapy License.
3. Knowledge of special education practices as related to Occupational Therapy.
4. Full certification in Safe Crisis Management (SCM), Safety Care, or other restraint management system as required by the assignment.
