We provide a safe and secure working environment for our staff while helping an at-risk population receive the treatment necessary for success on their road back to a healthy, productive life.</p>\n<p><strong>Position Summary:</strong></p>\n<p>Reports to the deputy warden, programs. Responsible for maintaining a collection of books, serial publications, documents, audiovisual, and other materials, and assists inmates in locating and obtaining materials in compliance with American Correctional Association (ACA) standards, Management &amp; Training Corporation (MTC), and Florida Department of Corrections (FDOC) directives.</p>\n<p><strong>Essential Functions:</strong></p>\n<p>1. Plan and direct library program for inmates.</p>\n<p>2. Develop library policies and programs and prepares operational budgets.</p>\n<p>3. Maintain, organize and supervise the circulation of library materials.</p>\n<p>4. Provide readers' advisory services on basis of knowledge of current reviews and bibliographies.</p>\n<p>5. Select, acquire, and organize library materials for convenient access.</p>\n<p>6. Review requests, and select books and other library materials according to mental state, educational</p>\n<p>background, and special needs of inmates.</p>\n<p>7. Assemble book reviews for facility’s bulletins or newspapers, and circulates reviews among inmates.</p>\n<p>8. Conduct library inventories on a regular basis.</p>\n<p>9. Supervise the preparation of reports and records on circulation, inventory, newspapers and magazines.</p>\n<p>10. Serve as instructional resource consultant and materials specialist to instructors and inmates.</p>\n<p>11. Prepare reports as required for contractual compliance.</p>\n<p>12. Ensure inmate law library is in compliance with state of Florida statutes, administrative code and FDOC</p>\n<p>policies and procedures.</p>\n<p>13. Coordinate library orientation for class participants, in conjunction with instructors.</p>\n<p>14. Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and</p>\n<p>intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed. Provide regular feedback to staff regarding</p>\n<p>social skills procedures and intervention techniques.</p>\n<p>15. Maintain accountability of inmates and property; adhere to safety practices.</p>\n<p>It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as</p>\n<p>determined by management.</p>\n<p><strong>Education and Experience Requirements:</strong></p>\n<p>Master’s degree in library science or information studies from a graduate program accredited by the American Library Association. If not certified as above, must work under the direction and supervision of someone with the above education. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.</p>\n<p><strong>Post Hire Requirements:</strong></p>\n<p>Must attain and maintain appropriate facility security clearance.
