Responsible for performing work related to the construction and maintenance of poles, power lines, auxiliary facilities, and equipment for the transmission and distribution of electricity. Supports and learns from the Lineman team and works with other personnel from the department.</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino\"> </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Essential Duties and Responsibilities:<br><br></span></span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino\"><span style=\"color: rgb(45, 45, 45)\">1.      </span><span style=\"color: black\">Participate in and successfully complete training as scheduled in order to progress to Lineman Apprentice 2 status.</span><br></span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino\"><span style=\"color: rgb(45, 45, 45)\">2.      </span><span style=\"color: rgb(45, 45, 45)\">Safely construct, maintain, and inspect transmission and distribution of electrical or power lines. </span></span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino\"><span style=\"color: rgb(45, 45, 45)\">3.      </span><span style=\"color: rgb(45, 45, 45)\">No work will be performed on energized structures.</span><br></span><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino\">4.      Constructs, replaces, repairs, and performs maintenance of electric distribution lines, structures, and equipment.</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino\">5.      Installs, repairs, and performs maintenance of underground cables.</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino\">6.      Install meter and transformer pads.  </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino\">7.      Install and disconnect meters. </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino\">8.      Install and maintain security lighting. </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino\">9.      Conduct line patrol activities and report maintenance needs as necessary. </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino\">10.     Assist in digging and tamping pole holes; load, unload, set, and remove poles. </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino\">11.     Operate vehicles and heavy equipment including line trucks, boom trucks, underground trenchers, digger trucks, and other associated equipment in a safe and proficient manner. </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino\">12.     Set up and remove barricades, flags, and signs for traffic control and work zone protection in compliance with safety procedures.</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino\">13.     Develop and maintain familiarity with the operation and maintenance of the boom truck, digger truck, bucket truck, and various pulling units and report deficiencies or repairs needed. </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino\">14.     Ensures all tools, equipment, and unused materials are returned and replaced on the line truck after the completion of a job or the day’s work. </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino\">15.     The individual must be able to serve stand-by duty on a rotation basis and must be able to report to work within 20 minutes of being notified that services are required when performing stand-by duties. </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino\">16.     Responsible for compliance with the Cooperative's safety rules, safety policies, and safety procedures.</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino\">17.     Demonstrate regular and prompt attendance.</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino\">18.     In addition to these responsibilities, may be assigned by the District Operations Supervisor or Foreman to perform other duties from time to time.</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino\"><span style=\"color: rgb(45, 45, 45)\">19.     </span><span style=\"color: rgb(45, 45, 45)\">Responsible for timely submission of all Apprentice Program required documentation.</span></span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino\"> </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Education:</span></span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino\"> </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino\">High school diploma or equivalency required. Must possess or be able to obtain CPR and First Aid certification.</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino\"> </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Experience:</span></span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino\"> </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(45, 45, 45); font-family: georgia, palatino\">Must be working to complete Year 1 of the Apprentice Lineman Curriculum.</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino\"> </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino\"><span style=\"color: black; font-size: 14pt\">Job Knowledge:</span><br></span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino\"> </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino\"><span style=\"color: black\">Must possess knowledge of RUS and REA line specifications, National Electric Code, National Electric Safety Code, and OSHA Rules and Regulations. Prior experience in basic technical utility knowledge is required.</span></span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino\"> </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Abilities and Skills:</span><br></span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino\"> </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino\">1.      Must possess a valid Texas CDL (class A) license with a good driving record or be able to obtain it within 90 days.</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino\">2.      Must be able to communicate in English, both in written and oral forms with the general public and co-workers.</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino\">3.      Must be able to climb poles of all types and perform required jobs while on poles.</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino\">4.      Must possess skills and abilities to perform all required jobs with the installation of materials, apparatus, and equipment used in the construction and maintenance of electric distribution lines.</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino\">5.      Must be able to operate equipment including bucket trucks, digger trucks, and other related equipment.</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino\">6.      Must be able to proficiently operate all electronic devices issued to employees including, but not limited to iPads and computers.</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino\">7.      Must be able to lift 50 pounds or more, as necessary without external assistance of personnel or mechanical aids.</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino\">8.      Must have sight to be able to see working conditions from a safety standpoint.</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino\">9.      Must be able to effectively utilize a two-way radio to communicate duties and location.</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino\">10.    Must be able to walk distances up to one mile in uneven terrain.</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino\"> </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Working Environment:</span><br></span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino\">  </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino\"><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"color: rgb(45, 45, 45)\">This job operates in a field environment.
