    "descriptionText": "Salary: USD 22–24\n\n Description\n\n $500 signing bonus after 90 days of successful continuous employment \n\nExpanded learning programs are structured educational opportunities that occur outside the traditional school day, combining academic support, enrichment activities, and skill building to enhance students’ overall learning and development. The purpose of the Program Instructor is to provide a safe, supportive, engaging, and interactive learning environment for students, in alignment with the Expanded Learning Program's 12 quality standards. The ideal candidate is creative, energetic, and passionate about education and youth development. Commitment to continuous youth development and connection to our communities and families are our top priorities.\n\n Benefits: \n\n Pay rate: $22 $24 an hour DOE\n Hours negotiated upon hiring (22 24 hours per week, depending on location and need)\n Up to 15 paid holidays per year\n Stepping stone into a career in education, leadership, advocacy, social entrepreneurship, and social justice\n Employee assistance program, dental, vision, wellness program, life insurance, flexible spending account, transit and parking flexible spending accounts for commuting expenses, 403b (Eligibility based on total weekly hours )\n\n Qualifications: \n\n Must have an a) Associate Degree or higher, or b) 48 college units, or c) pass the Instructional Aide exam\n Must pass a criminal background check and TB test clearance\n Must be able to work every day during after school hours and commit to an academic school year (hire date through mid June) required for the position\n Must have previous experience working with kids and the ability to independently lead and supervise up to 22 students while playing, doing homework, and implementing enrichment activities.\n Must be able to communicate openly, professionally, and maintain confidentiality at all times.\n Must have basic technology & computer skills (Word, Email, Workvivo, Workday, Google drive, etc.)\n Will be expected to complete all mandated training (Mandated Reporter, Sexual Harassment, SEL PQA etc.)\n Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds, and be capable of standing and walking for extended periods of time\n\n Competencies: \n Safe & Supportive Environment: \n\n Promotes the Physical Health and Safety of students and peers by addressing all incidents of intimidation and isolation between students immediately and in a culturally responsive manner.\n Promotes Positive Emotional Climate Creates opportunities for all students to share their voices and express themselves during activities, where they offer feedback and/or practice public speaking skills.\n Promotes a Sense of Community Provides positive, specific feedback about participation, behavior, and accomplishments through a combination of approaches and activities.\n\n Program Planning & Implementation/ Youth Development: \n\n Classroom Management Implements behavioral management techniques to guide activity participation and models positive behavior and choices for the students\n Youth Engagement Listens attentively and implements recommendations appropriately to include student input.\n Lesson Preparation and delivery Creates relevant lesson plans and demonstrates effective time management, provides clear instructions, and facilitates activities with fidelity.\n Continuous Quality Improvement Engages in a data driven program quality improvement process; uses assessment and reflection data to inform academic instruction, literacy activities, and small group\n Youth Skill Development and Positive Peer Interactions Encourages participants to engage in meaningfulgroup work and collaboration throughout lessons and activities; promotes positive peer interactions and a culture of learning\n\n Diversity, Equity & Inclusion: \n\n Equity Practices Creates and maintains an environment that actively promotes respect, equity, cultural diversity, and value for all\n Inclusion Accessibility Actively encourages and ensures all participants can engage in activities regardless ofEnglish language fluency, their physical or developmental ability, and uses a variety of strategies to do so\n Culturally Responsive Practices Utilizes culturally responsive, trauma informed, and healing centered approaches to child and youth development.\n\n Youth Voice & Leadership: \n\n Encourages participants to use their strengths and provide positive feedback\n Consistently creates opportunities for students to comfortably express their ideas, concerns, and/or opinions\n Creates age appropriate opportunities for leadership and responsibility, and builds youth leadership and critical thinking skills\n\n Additional Job Duties: (job duties include the following, but are not limited to)\n\n Must be able to work independently and or as part of a team\n Program Instructors are expected to facilitate classrooms of 10 20 students and create engaging activities and lesson plans.\n Provide homework and academic support for program participants\n Create, plan, and facilitate academic, enrichment, and physical skill building activities based on students' skill level and state educational standards\n Maintain accurate attendance records & meet deadlines regularly\n Report incidents in a timely manner (immediately to supervisor)\n Attend and actively participate/collaborate in all staff and agency training & meetings, & program events, and activities\n Must actively learn and practice the Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) process as outlined in the EXL Handbook\n Complete additional duties as assigned by the Program Coordinator\n\nBACR is an equal opportunity employer and encourages diversity.
