Emergency Veterinary Clinic of Niceville (EVC Niceville) is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant or Veterinary Technician to join our Emergency & Critical Care team on a part-time basis . This is not an entry-level role . We’re looking for candidates with a strong clinical foundation and hands-on experience in emergency, critical care, surgery, anesthesia, or high-volume general practice. As the only 24/7 emergency and critical care hospital serving Niceville and Florida’s Emerald Coast, EVC provides urgent, life-saving care after hours, on weekends, and during holidays. Position Highlights Part-Time Opportunity with flexible scheduling Evening, overnight, and weekend shifts available Ideal for experienced professionals seeking supplemental hours or schedule flexibility Pay Range: $17–$25/hour (based on experience) Higher, negotiable pay available for experienced CVTs or VTS with ER background 📍 Location: 203 Government Ave, Niceville, FL 32578 You’ll play a key role in supporting our emergency and critical care teams—helping deliver high-quality care when pets (and their people) need it most. Assist with emergency triage , urgent examinations, and treatments Obtain patient histories, vitals, and presenting complaints Provide safe, skilled restraint for critically ill, injured, or fractious patients Perform and support diagnostics, including: Venipuncture and blood sample preparation In-house laboratory testing (IDEXX/Heska preferred) Radiographs Urinalysis, fecals, and basic cytology Place and maintain IV catheters; assist with fluid therapy Administer medications via PO, SQ, IM, and IV routes Assist with anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery Support surgical and emergency procedures as directed Monitor hospitalized and ICU patients; accurately chart vitals and observations Maintain clean, organized, and well-stocked treatment and patient care areas Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients, including discharge education Collaborate with teammates to ensure smooth shift transitions and continuity of care This is not an entry-level position Minimum 2+ years of hands-on veterinary clinical experience required Prior experience in emergency, critical care, specialty, or high-volume general practice strongly preferred Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT/LVT/RVT) preferred, but highly skilled Veterinary Assistants with advanced technical abilities will be considered Demonstrated proficiency in: Patient restraint and handling in high-stress situations IV catheter placement and venipuncture Anesthetic monitoring and post-operative recovery Emergency protocols and multitasking under pressure Experience with veterinary PIMS and electronic medical records Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills Ability to remain calm, focused, and professional during trauma cases and overnight surges Flexible availability for nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating basis While this is a part-time role, we’re proud to offer meaningful perks that support your growth and well-being: Competitive hourly pay with growth potential Flexible scheduling to support work-life balance 401(k) with company match Employee pet care discounts CE opportunities and ongoing training Career growth pathways within emergency and specialty medicine Mental health support and Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Supportive, team-first culture in a fast-paced ER environment Modern, well-equipped facility with advanced diagnostics Your Next Step Starts Here If you’re looking for a flexible, part-time opportunity where your skills are valued and your passion for emergency medicine is supported—we’d love to connect. 👉 Apply today to join a team delivering critical care when it matters most.
