Renders appropriate care specific to age of the patient, to ensure understanding and comfort level of treatment, as outlined in the \"Age of Specific Criteria\".</span></span><br><br><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\"><strong>Essential Functions</strong></span></span></p><ul><li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">Performs routine ultrasound examinations as requested by physician to facilitate diagnosis in accordance with department procedure manual and initial patient assessment to include the following:</span></span><ul><li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">Room preparation to include supplies, equipment set-up, immobilization devices; isolation procedure requirements; and sterile technique if warranted.&nbsp;</span></span></li><li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">Patient/Parent education to allay apprehension and elicit cooperation during the exam. Obtains clinical history of patient's condition.&nbsp;</span></span></li><li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">Calculates and selects proper technical factors and probes based on patient’s age, physical condition and suspected pathology.&nbsp;</span></span></li><li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">Processing sonographic images and evaluating them for technical quality.&nbsp;</span></span></li><li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">Preparing films for interpretation by the Radiologist, recording pertinent patient data and pulling previous exams. Maintaining department log of exams performed for teaching file purposes.&nbsp;</span></span></li><li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">Educates the patient and family regarding the examination process.&nbsp;</span></span></li><li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">Provides caring responses to family questions.&nbsp;</span></span></li><li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">Excels in service excellence from the patient and family’s perspective.</span></span></li></ul></li><li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">Performs a variety of functions in support of the department to enhance the overall experience for patients and families</span></span></li><li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">Performs professional, clinical instruction of students by performing and monitoring \"on-the-job training\" as outlined by JRCERT.&nbsp;</span></span></li><li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">Keeps current regarding developments, trends, and techniques in ultrasound procedures and equipment, as necessary to maintain expertise, through appropriate journals, conferences and seminars.
