Overview Onondaga Community College, located in Syracuse, NY is currently recruiting for a Electromechanical (Mechatronics) Full-Time Tenure Track Faculty. BROAD FUNCTION: The Engineering Science and Technology Department has a full-time tenure track faculty position open. Major responsibilities of this position include college-level teaching of Electrical and Electromechanical (Mechatronics) courses and laboratories in content areas such as circuit design and analysis, digital electronics, microprocessor, programmable logic controllers, robotics (FANUC and UR), industrial automation, motion and motor control, project management, and other typical electromechanical technical areas. Additional responsibilities include academic advising, curriculum development, participation on committees, and collaboration with colleagues to assess student learning outcomes. Responsibilities The successful candidate will be qualified to teach several of the following classes and labs: ELT 141 Circuits 1 (classes and labs) ELT 142 Circuits 2 (classes and labs) ELT 161 Electronics 1 (classes and labs) ELT 261 Electronics 2 (classes and labs) ELT 171 Digital Electronics (classes and labs) ELT-215 Programmable Logic Controllers ELT 271 Introduction to Microprocessors (classes and labs) ELM 105 Introduction to Mechanisms ELM 106 Introduction to Industrial Tools ELM 109 Introduction to Programming ELM-111 Introduction to Industrial Automation ELM-112 Motors & Motion ELM-231 Industrial Robotics I ELM-232 Industrial Robotics II Other technical courses as necessary See: Electromechanical Technology A.A.S. | Electrical Technology A.A.S. | Mechanical Technology A.A.S. Knowledge of electromechanical applications in demand by local industry is also valued, including, but not limited to: hydraulics & pneumatics, robotics, soldering & electronic assembly, electrical test & measurement, mechanical assembly techniques, motors & controllers, sensors & machine vision, and industrial control systems. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES Be responsive to student questions and available for student support. Use appropriate technology to enhance learning. Assess learning outcomes and adapt curriculum to meet learning objectives. Demonstrate insight and encouragement in working with diverse student populations, especially students traditionally underrepresented in higher education. Provide appropriate academic advising to students to support timely degree completion. Be innovative in the presentation of lectures and hands-on learning activities that achieve learning outcomes. Provide timely feedback on students' assignments and exams throughout each semester. Be accountable to meet the needs of the Department and the College, including timely submission of grades and other required materials. Min Compensation USD $54,636.00/Yr. Max Compensation USD $61,466.00/Yr. Qualifications Appointment at the Rank of Instructor: Associate degree in the subject areas of Mechanical Technology, Electrical Technology, Mechatronics, or closely-allied field accredited college, university or foreign equivalency Industry-recognized professional license or certification; and Minimum of five years of full-time related industry experience. Appointment at the Rank of Assistant Professor: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or closely-allied field from an accredited college, university or foreign equivalency. Industry-recognized professional license or certification. Minimum of three years of full-time employment in Engineering or closely allied field. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Background in teaching college level courses. Demonstrated connections with local industry. Industrial Experience: Robotics FANUC, Universal Robots Automation PLC Motors & motion control Bilingual in Spanish & English. English and another language also will be considered. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project). Additional Information: The 2026-2027 starting salary for the rank of Instructor is $54,636 and Assistant Professor is $61,466. Excellent health, dental, and vision insurance plans (qualifying domestic partner included).
